Well, I'll throw this out there since you all are talking about D&D. My friends always use hybrid rules. Each new set brings in some good ideas and cuts out some good ideas. We just agree on certain things beforehand and go at it. I don't think any game has ever been designed where some amount of modding isn't fun. Except, possibly, Go.
Plug/Troll https://forums.wincustomize.com/315706
Thanks andrew. That post completely made my day. 3.0 is a half-step back for me. I don't see how it is faster (is it because I have a high-end rig and the improvements aren't noticeable . . . ?) and I think the overall UI is terrible. Maybe it'll take some time to get use to, but I'm considering using Opera regularly. I got use to Firefox, I can get use to Opera (which is just as fast, imho that's the most import

FYI: I rarely allow more than 16 billion people on a planet, they're just too unruly to manage when the numbers get higher. Generally I don't like to go higher than 10 or 12 billion on a sub-10 quality planet. It really is dependent on how many slots I have on a given planet. I don't want everything to be morale based.
I'm playing a normal game, start new game, choose galaxy size and victory conditions, then go to customize race, then select number of opponents only then start game and all opponents are set to Team.
The options are in there when you choose your opponents. I'm at work so I can't remember off the top of my head, but the setting you want is definitely on the screen where you choose your opponents.
How do I tell when my economy is ready for me to expand to other planets?
Hmm, that's hard to answer. Any new colony is going to lose money for you at first. You really have to watch your budget early on. In my first few turns I end up with three or four colony ships (the free miner is great to upgrade to a colony ship) and do a little bit of exploring. Grab any planet above 11 quality as soon as you see it. Ignore any and all planets that are below 7 at first (you can le
Also, if you put a factory on, say, a 300% bonus tile, you PAY three times the upkeep (specifically, you pay for three times the output).
To clarify, you are paying for the upkeep on the factory along with the cost of the production. With each new colony I get in the early game, I have a glut of research, which throws my economy all out of whack. Instead of changing the sliders what I do is set the new planet to be focused on military or social production
Any ideas? I got a PM saying that the Team status was unbreakable so even playing with the Alliance victory condidition disabled I still really can't play. Are there any specific keys I can delete in the registry Hive to reset TotA's configuration data? Like I said I already reinstalled but that did not reset the configuration (my preferences stayed).
You didn't mention whether or not you did what DSep said. That would definitely be the first thing to check. A

I play everything more or less. I enjoy everything from Sports to FPS to casual to rpg to all sorts of strategy games. Really, I just enjoy good games. And if you want to get into rpgs, you don't need a cutting edge pc. Rpgs haven't been all that great in the past few years (well, a general lack of rpgs in general), but you should be able to play Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, which are fantastic rpgs.
The discs began shipping last week; some people have already recieved them.
Good. Even though I have a great internet connection I always like to have the discs. Now I just need to figure out if I took the time to order the discs when I preordered . . . cause I can't go back to before ToA now. It ruined me. ;)
What can you do?
Well, I'm not entirely sure about what he means with this question. Are you asking if there is anything we can actually do with the prison system . . . ? Or are you asking spacepony what he can actually do now? I seem to think it's the former and if you are asking it, then you are the problem. I hate using that cliche (or any cliche for that matter), but what it comes down to is if you think you have no power, then you don't. This country is supposed to b

Great run through. Clear and concise. Kudos. I always play with tech trading on mainly because I like having alliances. And yes, I usually have to research it and trade (or gift) it to everyone. Then I make nice and attempt to go for the political victory. I have always focused on economics first, so my transition to ToA was pretty smooth. In fact I find that ToA has helped me keep my improvement building in check because of the focus on economics. And I agree. Creati
So it seems to confirm that the Iconian tree has no government techs. Is this by design or just an omission? Would be fine, if one of the devs could make this clear. I always regarded the government forms as a core game feature, like ethical alignment is.
In TA this would be by design. Try out a different race. Or use the editors to change the Iconians. Since you don't tech trade, then your hands are kind of tied.

I'd like to see a game that incorporates The Walking Dead into it's plot. What exactly I mean by that, I'm not totally sure of, but you should definitely read The Walking Dead. Social commentary perhaps? And Left 4 Dead looks amazing to me. The team based survival is a much better idea than one person against unsurmountable odds (i.e. get big guns and lots of ammo to survive). Left 4 Dead makes you care about your mates because if one dies, you're pretty much dead too. Now, tak

Absolutely interesting discussion. I was going to post something last week when I first saw this but decided against it. I really don't have anything to add because what it comes down to is that I'm not educated about this. I just don't know. I'd like to sit here and rant about mandatory minimum sentences and how they're ridiculous in relation to nonviolent crimes, but I feel it's a baseless argument . . . coming from me. Then again, I'm not exactly in line with the mentality that the d
Speaking of ranking...I've been playing for years, but only recently decided to submit metaverse games. What's the deal with the ranking? Is claims that, after but four games, I am 986. Surely that can't mean that there are only 985 players ahead of me.
Yup. It does. Not everyone plays Metaverse matches and I think a lot of people only play a couple and forget about it. Plus, you scored pretty well in your games. It adds up quick.
