Why does training my scientist to be a Quantum Physicist cause the level of research to drop instead of increase? It drops by 0.10. When I retrain the Quantum Physicist back down to just generic scientist I get the 0.1 research back. So is this a bug? If training up Quantum Physicists is going to drop research I don't see it's need. Is it some kind of convoluted 'lower is better' situation I'm not understanding?

I am getting huge lag. I tried moving from a universe game using 2 cores to 4 and reducing the number of races, lowering resolutions and refresh rates, turning off all other software etc....nothing works. I play on an ASUS core i7 laptop with 16GB of RAM...what am I doing wrong? Nothing I've tried helps in the least.
Lag is my biggest complaint with GalCiv4. My system exceeds the game's physical and software requirements and when I game I close all other applications. And still lag develops. It's frustrating.
I don't like research in GalCiv4. I understand that developers are trying to combat boredom and A-B-C-D research. But the system used in GalCiv4 is not the solution.
How do you change tax rates in GalCiv IV?
