They are probably going to make their own spiritual-successor to Master of Orion and will most definitely carry a new name, but looking forward to it whenever they do get around to it.

Yeah, the modification package (DS_Entrenchment_Beta_0.81_[33515597]_v2.7z) is very prone to minidumps (frequent), runtime errors (rare), and a complete system crashs (very rare). I do not have these issues with the normal game, checked all the files, redownloaded them, and even extracted them with different archivers to make sure it wasn't an oddball archiving issue. So, instead started pulling parts from the mod to isolate the problem a bit, and observed a drastic reduct

By that time i'm either about to go to bed or asleep, as I have to work at 10PM EST to 7AM EST, well, on the other hand my brother who seems to come over and play on my PC seems to play Demigod Beta everyday with my account (he really, really needs to get his own). So you might see him instead.

My suggestion is for a unit occlusion toggle and-or occlusion transparency slider option(s) for smaller demigods/units hiding behind obstacles like map doodads, structures, or even large demigods, like the Rook or other future additions. Not the greatest of issues, but, an issue nonetheless that regularly involves repositioning of the camera at the start of every match or throughout the game to see hidden threats or allies (for healing and other situational purposes).

A rather odd quote, well, considering the companies involved with this game have a known reputation of third-party modification support. I am going to lean towards something got misinterpeted by the article author and-or someone misinformed the author for the time being, well, till there is clarification

I agree, if there was someone damaged enough to exchange their Demigod Preorder for a practically free Red Alert 3 beta key, my RA3 beta key would be gone in a heartbeat. Well, that and found the Red Alert 3 beta to be an abysmal mess of ill-conceived additions, changes, and design elements that felt overall disappointing. There are just so many other good strategy games these days compared to what RA3 is shaping up to be for it to hold my interest.

I agree, Perpetual Entertainment was not getting anywhere with Star Trek Online, as perpetual feature creeping essentially had the project stagnate with no real evidence of a functioning game. All they had was renders of a non-working game, large amounts of concept art (public and private), and a lot of text trying to explain the game -- that was altered irregularly. Cryptic Studios in significantly less time has managed to actually show a functioning game, forums, a trailer, and more

The never-ending observation of PC/Console software and hardware developments keep me occupied when not playing Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, Crysis, Supreme Commander, and Company of Heroes. In addition, waiting for the Warhammer Online Open Beta to begin in the near future.

I remember sometime around the release of the Creature Creator, there was a bug if you installed the download manager with the game it would cause the CC to crash repeatedly. The solution was the uninstall the EA Download Manager or uninstalling both and reinstalling without the EA Download Manager.

Thanks, Gnats3. In any case, I was able to eventually secure a small non-bank related loan to cover the pre-order in the event it does come before my next paycheck. I would have been rather disappointed to miss out on this beta. :HOT:

I am curious, can we get some rough guess when in August this beta will begin and when the pre-order will be charged to our bank accounts? I rather not get hit by an unannounced payment without sufficient funds in my account, as car repairs, fuel costs, and some hardware purchases drained mine till my pay on August 8th.

I found out that you can already buy Sony Playstation 3s with Linux pre-installed, but still not exactly an avenue for most consumers that already own one. Still a step in the right direction none-the-less.
This is the kicker consideration that both you and Falknir forgot. The 360 and PS3 are both sold at a LOSS to their respective companies. If MS / Sony were to sell their consoles for PROFIT, like PCs, they'd likely cost MORE than your average gaming PC. Add in all the bells a
...So the question is, if the PS3 is so much like a PC now, what's the catch?...
Simple to answer, user-friendly and hassle-free. The pre-existing knowledge required to operate a current-generation console isn't much more then knowing to plug-in a few labeled cables, press the power button, and maybe insert a disc. In addition, the utilized operating systems are very-efficent and have interfaces that are very-easy to navigate. Compare that to what computer users must kn
Also, if someone is on a tight budget and they had to decide between a PC or a console, the PC will win every time. Consoles only perform one function (gaming), PCs many. I agree with the statement that PC Gaming is dying, even when we get that handful of developers and publishers that say "all is well; look the other way". A decent deal of those saying "all is well" are also well-within still viable genres and-or with strong influence with consumers (powerful brand(s)). We do still get that once in awhile magic seller that gets consumer attention (Sims, etc.), but should we base PC Game Industry health around the exceptional few or what the rest of the

Yeah, to bad World in Conflict was a dud, and only really caters to inane competitive gamers who like doing roughly the same thing every match. I got bored of the shallow, repetitive, chaotic (multi-player), and unbalanced gameplay in few tedious weeks. In addition, I don't even think the game sold very-well and it's rankings aren't very-good from the looks of it. Note: I remember when World in Conflict was touted as some kind of modern real-time tactical game with realism and so on.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! At least, it's a joke... sort of... to bad for Bioware and Pandemic... No they did not.... their support for CnC 3 is horrible. So many problems with sound playback during videos... endless threads about it but no fix. That single issue nearly destroyed any enjoyment I got out the game's campaign. It saddens me that such a silly issue wasn't resolved, yet.

I think they are limited in what they can do with the engine that's probably at least 4 years old or more. Rumor mill suggests it's a 3rd party developer too, as opposed to an in house studio of THQ. Relic Entertainment and Iron Lore Entertainment are working in-tandem, and it seems Relic Entertainment cannot handle the full-load of the number of projects in-development. I'm guessing a good portion of the Dawn of War team are working on a new e

Is the pathing still horribly bad? That's like a Relic staple. It was never really that bad to begin with, except for vehicles, but didn't notice any real problem in the beta.

1.) Command and Conquer 3. The game was just rushed out the door a bit to early with Direct3D and DirectSound crippling-or-annoying bugs, balance problems, disconnected art direction, continuity problems, amateur camera handling, and very-uninspired mission-and-map design. 2.) Supreme Commander. Serious performance problems plagued people in the early retail release; released with a few holdover bugs from beta that allowed for exploitation in multi-player; needed more op
