To Hack87, I've said everything I will say on this subject and for the sake of everyone here I'm not going to continue to argue with you, and at least for my part, I've said enough. Also, I've had this game now for 6 months, and been playing the Entrenchment beta since beta 1. Shoe fly don't bother me. Hi Silfarion, Hack87 is a demagogue because, its true he doesn't want political power, but he want public influence over this forum. He wants to man
Quoting CreditSuisse, reply 20Sorry Hack, I'm actually in my University's Parliamentary Debate Team that competes on the APDA Northeast Circuit and in real debate you would have lost severe amount of speaker points for repeatedly dropping your opponents points multiple times and pretending catching me on a definition instead of talking about the real issues can actually win you the debate. We call you a first-year Novice
the new beta slowed strike craft production in enemy wells, has anyone seen if this makes a difference?
Going to test this tonight. I hope it makes a difference. IMHO it should at the bear minimum take 40-50 secs to replace a dead strike craft, otherwise it's just putting a bandage on a rotting problem. Also the beta changes didn't note any Anti-matter cost change at all so still essentially people can replace SC wit
Guy's just because the Halcyon is decent doesn't mean it should be even more decent. What we're trying to do here to emphasize the frequent use of the Capital Carrier over the Light Carrier which is everyone's favorite spam unit. In terms of absolute dmg output and direct combat usefulness, 6 Light Carriers would easily take the cake over the Capital Carrier anyday. This is a problem. The Capital Carrier should be much more capable of net returns on gaining experience so that
Good idea to buff capital ships! [e digicons][/e] However like I mentioned in my own thread a petition to buff capital ships, they should really already gain a 10-15% buff to shields and hp right now without any reservations. After that, I'd proposed adding a lv. 4 Tech that allows newly built capital ships from the shipyard to start out at lv. 3 already. This in addition to a general Flak addition to capital ships to provide at least some kind of weak Flak
Sorry Hack, I'm actually glad you posted my PM, so now everyone can clearly see your fallacy. I've already address your "Fighters furfill this argument, why you are wrong, and how Interceptors will add to the game" If you cant be brothered to actually read my arguments in the original post, then you're the one who is really just venting - not debating. I'm actually in my University's Parliamentary Debate Team that competes on the APDA Northeast Circuit and in real debate
Those two posts are not worth an response. They don't even care about the logical arguments of this thread. Hack87, who really is a hack, is playing the word game with me. "Oh, interceptors are not for dog-fighting, what you're referring to is "air-superiority" fighter so this entire thread fails because he messed up on some real-world definitions that doesn't even apply to his implementation. Can anyone see this cheap-trick? Also, I repeatedly mentioned for the purposes of th
Obviously just some.
It's already been stated the Interceptor is NOT replacing the figher and its role is NOT one that is furfilled. Please read the Rebuttal section in the original post. Only 2 types of strike craft will never let SINs get more emphasis on Strike Craft and SC upgrades with only 2 types will not add any emphasis or dept. We need to get beyond the limitions of just figher and bomber. You mentioned with your suggestion that people will need to spam even more carriers. That is
Whoa, whoa. Number 1, Adama you just got reported. Its too bad really. [e digicons]:D[/e] Eat your words. Number 2, I said people should have an option to withstand carriers without having to make any SC of their own. I'm wrong and this is considered bitching? Number 3, Is anything I said about the Aegis Crusier wrong? Number 4, I didn't even talk about fleet logistic points? wtf? Is Commander Adama
As such, people were "trained" not to use them If you cannot adapt your tactics, you lose. Do you know what the counter to a modern naval carrier is today??? SC - either land based or from ANOTHER CARRIER (shock horror)...
Is this something we want in SINs? Do you really want it impossible to counter Carriers without your own Carriers? I think there needs to be an option to withstand strike craft as
How long would this "Twlight Period" be? I think its a excuse to never change the Carrier at all. Do the research now and get it done. People need to seize the day and ATTEMPT to solve the problem. I would agree with Agent if we were talking about major changes to the carrier but we're not. -A 15% decrease in shields and hull points - A speed decrease of 20% -Increase the build time for repla

Welcome to the Club. By far the best sc-fi on television. [e digicons]:D[/e]
I'm all for balanced fleets trumping spam. Capital Ships esp. go down to spam. How about the developers entertain the idea of penalties such as if a person has over a certain amount of one type of ship close together in a part of the grav well, then they'll get get -20% dmg output to all their SC.This may not be the most elegant solution and if there is a better idea then this I'm for it. In the game Company of Heroes the developers put this penalty on pio-spam, too many of th
... Traveller then you probably are not qualified to even play on the team. All sense of objectively in this test is now out the window. How do we even know if the teams are stacked or not? What if Traveller fails epically and gets rushed in the first 15 minutes? This idea is ridiculous. You need players of pretty much equal SKILL, not some random yahoos off the street corner! doh.
question: everyone here uses the fleet option to keep anti-SC frigets close to their caps and are still finding it ineffective right?
Read the thread: "do Flak Frigates suck or what?" by agent of Karma, who is widely regardled as an un-baised poster on the subject of carrier spam.
. Let carriers get their inital SC for free, then pay money for any that must be replaced.Replacing a dead Strike Craft should at the bear minimum take 40 seconds. Not the 10-15 seconds it is now.No way. Carrier damage is tied DIRECTLY to their squadron strength, which is why you can't go dicking around like it doesn't matter. A carrier doesn't need a whole lot of permanent strike craft casualties to lose its viability over other ships. This
Here is a novel suggestion. What about upping the dmg mitigation for Capital Ships from 69% which is the max now I believe to 79%? Furthermore: Give a general 10% or 15% buff to hp and shields to all capital ships in general, this will only somewhat solve the problem. Then add a lv. 4 tech that allows you to start out with lv. 3 capital ships whenever they are produced from the shipyard. There is already a tech at least for TEC where Cap Ships earn experience faster bu
That is true but Kodiaks are a lot more durable and Include weapons of their own to defend themselves that are quite a bit more damaging than 2 squadrons of strike craft. Not to mention no matter how much you upgrade defensive wise the kodiak will always be superior to the carrier. Its not a matter of how many hull points and shield points you have its a matter of how much punishment they can handle. In a one on one fight a carrier an
Then provide constructive criticism instead of cheap shots and demagoguery. Most people are agreeing that this idea can work and provide a good tactical addition to the game.
Interceptors are just very specialized fighters. Do you understand the concept of an interceptor? Interceptor aircraft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I called you on it and said "Yes I do because I read the link. It states that interceptors were built to intercept bombers, something that Subs alreadys has with the fighter SC. You seem to love telling people that they have presented an XYZ argument, and are therefore wrong. Y
I agree with Bobucles, he seems to be an honest upstanding guy unlike some of the demagogues on these forums who lurk in the shadows.... ready to strike. A reduction in the number of strike craft would be a 50% nerf, which is too much. I see the case where people wouldn't bother to get carriers until they can immediately get the research where we have the same problem again. Somehow getting Anti-matter into the solution is a good idea, but there should also be a slight researc
They should be more powerful. A general 10-15% buff to shields and hull points will NOT completely solve their problem but it WILL be much better than what we have now. Also let them have a weak flak turrent for obvious reason that's been mentioned over and oveer on this forum. This is mandatory. Primarily, another suggestion is let there be a technology that allows you to start with lv. 3 capital ships as soon as you produce them. That way they won't be so handicapped so early.
If the carrier spamming team wins tonight, I hope you have the balls to say they won. Then you'll have to eat your shoe. [e digicons][/e]
