Ok - that's helpful - thanks Zubaz. I hope someone from Stardock is listening here because finding docs is a real trial and error adventure with this product. (1) If the apps' own GUI has nothing more than an About box, then check the installation directory. (2) Next try the "Start menu" stuff ... there might be a manual there. (3) Next try the installation directory itself. The ObjectDesktop directory has a "docs" directory which sounds promising. But there's a s

I must admit that as happy as I am with my purchase of ObjectDesktop + ObjectDock, for the $70 I was expecting complete documentation. These products are not 100% self documenting. And $70 is quite steep to not provide *full* documentation.
A major reason I've been interested in using ObjectBar is to have a "start bar" similar to what the Mac has. Apple menu and application menus are on the left but there's several things that need to be located against the right side of the screen. There are several downloads already on wincustomize but it appears that none of them are able to right justify the content of the bar. They all have screen captures that look like it used to work but when I use them with the latest version
I guess I should clarify for those that will use this thread in the future... ObjectDockPlus starting with v1.1 (released in Jan/05) correctly handles "Show Desktop" and WinKey+D. When I run both IconX and ObjectDock+ and then "show desktop", IconX screws up and ObjectDock+ responds correctly. Anyways, I've forwarded my original post to support@stardock.com
Ok - I've figured out that my "Show Desktop" issue is not asking for the impossible. In January of 2005, ObjectDock 1.1 was released that incorporated the following feature: "Supports WinKey+D now (show desktop no longer hides ObjectDock if it's set to always on bottom or top)" Also, as I play around with ObjectDockPlus 1.3 I can see that the "Show Desktop" issue is not a concern.
Kids? LOL True - only problem for Stardock is that my wife/mom have alot more money to spend than the kids! Actually, a quick google of "Show desktop" IconX seems to show that this is a fairly common complaint.
Thanks for the replies Zubaz, I appreciate that you've taken the time to respond. Is the [Winkey-M] a feature in WindowsXP? Or is this functionality from another Stardock product? I think you're a little more tolerant of quirks in the product than I am. I can see that many of the Stardock products have a freeware/shareware lineage. And for a free product, a person should be grateful for any support > 0 they receive and if a little research/under the hood knowledge is necessary to use
Your explanation for why "Show Desktop" doesnt work makes sense. So, now that we know why it doesnt work ... what's the fix? IconX should contain basic documentation to discuss some of these unfortunate interactions with builtin Windows XP functionality and tell you what to do about it.
