I use weapons that my enemy is weak in.
Galvin
no, but that is a cool idea. then smaller ships might be more useful in the game as you can stuff more weapon on it instead of lots of engines and life support systems.
you are doing nothing wrong. having a military costs money so you need to manage how much you build with how much you have in your treasury.
i transfer all the time. especially if i just got a nice new large planet. I will then move a population that is maxing into one planet to the new one.
For the farther planets i build ships with no colony module and all engines, I then upgrade that ship to one with a colony module (and nothing else) and take the planet with 1 person. You must be extremely aggressive in the beginning if you want to win harder game levels. And I do what others mentioned about taxes low enough so morale is 100% and then I micro manage my economics in the beginning to use up every penny i have. You want to have stock markets earlier then later not just for the mone
Good gets a big advantage because more races seems to be good then bad which gives you more allies meaning less people potentially attacking you. Though, the side I join depends more on logistics for me. If my neighbors are evil I am going evil because if I don't they are going to kill me (this is in suicidal). Strategic alliances is the single most important thing that keeps me alive so I can eventually rule the universe.
Galactic Privateer Wonder = I could not win suicidal without it as it protects a good chunk of easy income in the early/middle part of the game where you need it most. And I know how to build my economy. Pre-made Ships = sucks (how about give me more ships shells to choose from to build my own ships) Anything Influence related = sucks (winning by influence is the most boring way to win) Sensors = I love because I can see things sooner to protect myself and they a
Here are some of the things I do in beating Suicidal on the largest map with max races. Masochistic is really not that bad if you play the game right. + Take note of your adjacent neighbors and align with the stronger ones. This way they are less likely to attack you. Once you create an Alliance with them you will have buddies in a strategically nice location. + Make sure you do not neglect your military early on or everyone attacks you + See what weapon type your alliance m
I love the technology victory as it completely changes the dynamic of the game. Not only do I have to look at who is getting strong, I am constantly checking to make sure no one is advancing in technology too quickly. If I see them going for the tech victory I take them out.
Easy is so subjective. Easy on the beginner level? If all you want to do is lose I am sure the developers can make a level where the AI gets 20,000% production and tech bonus. Will that then make you happy because you can't beat the AI? What I enjoy about GalCiv is that in the more difficult levels I need to do a lot of different things to win and not just build more ships faster and run over everyone. I attack on all facets possible to give me the edge. In saying that I would like to
Before you say the game is too easy play Suicidal first. Painful is not hard at all and I would say Masochistic is where you start needing more then just military might. In Suicidal I have to do a lot of diplomacy by using everything at my disposal like location, alignment, trade routes, and tech trading. If you want to just lose so you feel the game is tough just do Suicidal and create no alliances. And I always play the largest map with max races as I like big games.
I checked the sticky post on known bugs and it was not there and not totally sure where this should go as it is an out of game issue. Can you please fix the medal system in the forum. I am still showing medals from a few weeks ago. It might seem small and not important to the developers (because it is probably so easy to fix yet time consuming so no one wants to do it), but I personally get a lot of satisfaction from it and as each day goes by it bugs me just a little bit more that it is not get
The first time I felt it was a real challenge was with Masochistic. I could not just roll over each planet. I had to heavily use diplomacy and micro manage each planet. I am playing my first Suicidal and should win in the next couple hours. I have 2 races left (who were my allys that helped me beat the game from the beginning). Since I am going to beat Suicidal I am kinda sad because I am not sure how much better I could be. They need to have a level called 'Impossible'. *edit* <
just play suicidal with the max opponents on the largest map and you will get your fill of challenge.
I played and won my first Masochistic game and here are some of the things I did to win. Picking Race * I pick any race that has the Ion drive. Speed early on is important for me. * I then max out the Military production abilities and then spread my points between reseach, diplomacy, and economics. * I pick Industrialist for the production bonuses. Initial Land Grab * I upgrade my first colony ship with ion drives and basic life support. * I bu
I just did my first masochistic game (which was in 1.2) and the AI is pretty impressive. I barely won thanks to some strategic alliances and lots of micro management. I almost lost to someone getting a technology victory! I had to take out that race fast and thankfully others joined me.
I don't want to see tactical battles or i want to put it on auto without losing any penalty. i love the game, but if i had to go through each battle it would take me a year to finish a game.
I name mine after Caldari ships from a game called Eve Online.
When this first happened to me (everyone started attacking me as they saw what I was starting to do) I was impressed with the game. One second I felt all powerful and the next thing I know I have 3 people at war with me. This forced me to rethink my game and how I attack.
Reading that sentence clearly shows you want an equal or near equal opponent... this will not happen with AI opponents only human opponents. If you know any computer programming you will know that this type of AI will not happen within our lifetime. It will be unlikely even your grandchildren would see this type of AI within a game. Unfortunately most gaming com
I am on the bandwagon that I am glad they did not do an online feature and instead spent it on the AI and complexity. This was the only reason I bought the game and normally do not play strategy games as they tend to have a boring and dumb AI. And for the next release I would keep focusing on the AI as it is good, but it can be pushed even farther. I want an AI that is as ruthless as a human. Like making peace just to steal money/technology and then attacking them two turns later or b
I have dual screens and I play GalCiv2 on my screen with 32 bit color, however my second screen is set to 16 bit color and everytime I start GalCiv2 it tells me I am not at 32 bit color when I am. Even if I was a 16 bit color I am not sure many would notice the difference so the warning is kind of annoying after a while.
I've noticed similar behavior (showing blank ships), and it seemed to happen to me when I had obsoleted the design, but still had ships of that make and model in play (didn't delete). Maybe something sleightly askew with the upgrade ship process. The ships that are blank were not obsolete and I would click on and off the ships to see if they would a
I got this bug earlier today when I clicked to see the list of my ships at my rally point. When I picked two of them and created a fleet it went back to normal.
I just upgraded from 1.2 Beta 1 to Beta 2 so will my game (that i started in Beta 1) work in Metaverse without being flagged as cheating?
