Twice now so that I can play a game and twice I have failed. Once I enter in the information to create a new character a popup displays reading "Processing Data." However that popup never goes away. This time I even took 20 minutes or so to make dinner for myself and my daughter. When I came back... "Processing Data" .... I guess I don't get to play. It should be noted that I am on dial up.

In my current game I have an overall approval of around 70% and most planets are there or above. However I have one particular planet that no matter how many approval + buildings I add, it stays at very low approval. I need help because I don't know what could be causing this nor how to correct it. It has 6 or 7 virtual reality centers and is barely at 40% approval. My tax rate is about 38% and all my other planets' approval ratings aren't ideal, but t

It's funny how people come on here complaining about the game not working without even bothering to mention exactly what is happening or trying to understand why it's happening. If it keeps crashing, I would say UPDATE YOUR DRIVERS. It says to when you install the game. If you are running old drivers, it probably will crash a lot.

I was thinking at work and this scenario popped in my head and I am very curious that is could very well cause an infinite combat cycle. Ok, let's say it's later in the game I have created a custom class of constructor ship. It has no attack, but has 10 shield defense against beam weapons. Now let's say that I go to war with a civ that is still using the crappy core designs that only do 1 beam damage. Now if my constructor ship is attacked b

Something needs to be done about the length of time it takes to build the advanced versions of the standard planetary improvements. If I colonize a planet, or even take an underdeveloped planet late in the game it takes rediculously long amounts of time to build the improvements. By standard improvements, I mean things like facories, farms, resarch centers, etc. etc. etc. First off, I don't understand why it takes so long to build the high level versions. There is no need for a factory to take

Ok so the story is that those star gate things were how the other Civs got around certain points in the galaxy until the Terrans came up with hyperdrive. I would like to be able to build these gates. On smaller maps, they wouldn't really be useful but on the really big maps it could mean the difference of a month or two of travel time for a fleet to reach it's destination, which could make all the difference in a war. Could build it like a space statio

Since it wouldn't be a toggle thing like Star Trek cloaking, the AI would automatically use it without having to add much to it's programming. The only thing needed would be set the AI up to research the stealth path just like it would lasers or shields or any other military type tech.

There is a difference between acceleration and velocity (speed in a direction). Ignoring relativistic velocities, you are correct in that there is no practical difference in the velocity that can be achieved by either a small ship or a large ship. The difference is in how quickly they can get to that veloci

I just finished a game and it said that the score was really good and likely be entered into Metaverse, but I don't know how. I clicked on Metaverse on the main menu but it asked me to create a character to play. I don't want to play, I can't with my dial-up crap connection.

I don't claim to be an expert on such things, but from what I do understand I don't see how mass would have an effect on speed in space when things are weightless and there is no resistance to movement. There is no gravity, no type of air resistance, and I think that any space dust around would have no real affect on acceleration or speed. I can see how it would be impossible for a person to push a ship or whatever, but a powerful engine shouldn't have

To fix (or adress) the speed issue you could just have different default speeds for the different hull sizes. So tiny would be speed4 before any engines small speed3 med speed2 large speed1 huge speed0 (yerp) Perhaps you wouldn't want that large of a discrepency though.

To build on Mistoffeles concept. Their could be equal sensor and stealth branches on the tech tree. Extend sensors branch another three techs and give stealth a same length of branch. If Civ A has level 4 stealth teched and Civ B has level 4 sensors, then there is a 50% chance per turn that a Civ A vessel within Civ B's sensor radius would be vissible. Basically, at equal levels of sensors and stealth there is a 50% base chance per turn that an enemy s

I was looking for TES: Oblivion at Wal-Mart and saw this game. I like space games and civ games so I figured this would be a good game. So far I was right, aside from a few annoying bugs which are to be expected in any game. One of the worst bits is the typos in the game. Words spelled incorrectly aren't really a serious problem, but that annoys me to the ends of the earth. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/SadAngry.gif" border=0 AL

I think it's good tech to add. I was thinking of this myself. I often make what I call survailance vessels. They have nothing but massive amounts of engines, sensors, and life support. They are my eyes and ears (so to speak) into enemy territory, or even just exploring unknown space. I've never had an enemy go after those ships, but I'm sure they would eventually. It would be nice to be able to cloak them and not have to worry so much about them being

I was playing the 3rd mission of the Dread Lords campaign, the one where you have to take the planet with the temple from the Drengin and the guys that look human were helping me. The Drengin colonized a neutral planet fairly early so they had two planets. I built up a little fleet and took their second planet then started bearing down to take the one I needed to finish the mission. I had killed the couple defending ships in orbit and had transport shi

Maybe a future expansion or simple update could instate this idea if people like it, then again, maybe it's been addressed before and rejected. I think it would be good to have the option to turn a civ into a vassal rather than wipe them out. This would be especially useful with the minor races. Instead of just wiping them out, turn them into a provence of your empire. They benefit from your military protection, economy, everything that the people of your civ enjoy but the trade off is th

One of my favorite strategies is to concentrate on technology to out research everyone else ad then hoard all the techs I can to keep a substantial advantage over my enemies but I find it increasingly difficult to get weapons techs from the other civs once I become the dominant military force. They all refuse saying that giving such and such tech to the already powerful ____ wouldn't be prudent, or something similar. I've even tried trading all my adva

You have to expect some slowdown like that with any game like this. Civilization 4 is also like that for me, so bad in fact that If I don't win before around the time that time shifts from BC to AD I may as well quit playing because of the lag. I have yet to play a large scale game of GC 2, but i expect something similar would happen. The thing on large scale games that run a long time is that your system is having to calculate hundreds of moves every
