It's just to reap some good Karma, and when you die you can cash it in and get reborn as something cool. Like a Drengin. Or a butterfly. Or whatever floats your boat. Honestly, I have no idea what the bonus rating is for... My best guess would be that is helps the forum mods see who are idiots and who are respected members of the community.

In my last game with 4 AI opponents everyone went Beams+Shield... When I teched Missiles+Shields a bit, a military victory was inevitable. Once my war machine got going, nothing could stand against me. Eventually they did start researching anti-missile stuff, but it took them a long time to produce some ships with defense against my weapons, and by then it was both too late and too little. I don't think it was really a bug though... Compared to the other races I had a weak military, s

My opinion in this poll is a bit mixed... I voted "no", because this is the kind of game people play in SP way more than in MP. Playing a turn-based game over the email or internet takes AGES, since often you'll only be able to do one turn a day unless you're like online all day long. A game in a large galaxy could easily take more than a year to complete if you always have to wait for another person to take his/her turn, and that increases exponentially if more players are added. I've got all parts of the Age of Wonders series... The first was great, the second a bit less so, but Shadow Magic was a big improvement, luckily. Nice to see another fan of these somewhat obscure games. I personally wouldn't say it blows Heroes of Might & Magic away... both have their own good and bad points... but I too prefer AoW to HoMM.

What no Wal - Mart near you now that is strange! #4 is right. There is no Wall-Mart in the Netherlands, or at least not anywhere near I live. I've looked for this game in local stores and they didn't have it, so I bought it from the site. But does it matter, really? The point is that I bought it, and probably wouldn't have done so if I hadn't pirat

I clicked that option. I explained it in a post on the subject some time ago. I initially pirated the game. I played it a bit, liked it, and bought it from this site (download + boxed). So I now have the original game and payed for it properly, but the way I got into the game in the first place was because of the pirated version. I doubt I would have bought the game otherwise, since I hardly knew about it, and AFAIK it's not in stores around here.

I really like this idea... A capital class ship, larger and stronger than anything else, but you can only build one... Maybe a good idea for the expansion, because I don't see how it could be done with the current game.

As said before, it's just a 'bug' in they way scouts determine their path. It seems that every scout looks for the best place to go scouting, and then goes there. What it DOESN'T do, is check if that place is already being targeted by another scout. So they plot an entire route, but perhaps by the time they get there another scout has already been there. Then they choose a new location, but obviously that other scout is also going there, since they use the same scouting algorithm. That way it ap

I prefer GalCiv2, but there is something I think is more fun in Civ4: You get to choose where to build your cities, and it actually matters a lot where you choose to build them. The different terrains that offer different bonuses, and may be impassible for certain types of units are a good thing as well, IMHO. I understand that these things wouldn't make any kind of sense in space, but they do add more fun and strategy to the game for me.

The Torians and Arceans are always on my "list of races to keep an eye on". Especially the Torians can grow to a huge bloated monster of an empire when left alone on a large enough map. The Arceans usually don't pose a direct threat, but for some reason they ALWAYS end up allying with my enemies, and they're almost always strong enough to pose a big threat on their own if provoked. Next are the Drengin and the Altarians. Since I'm usually Neutral, these two opposite extremes are usual

I've got an idea... You've got these wormhole anomalies, right? If you go through them, they go away, so they're basically a one-way ticket to somewhere, but you'll never know where 'somewhere' is until it's too late, and then you can't use it again. Also, you need a survey module to go into them in the first place. I don't know anything about RL wormhole theories, if they exist, but this seems to to indicate that the worrmholes in the game are very unstable. You need speci

How do I change the windows language? I've been playing without textures, and I would love to finally see the game as it was meant to be seen...

How I found the game... Heh, that's actually a funny story. Well, not funny actually, but... I first got it from a download site. Yup, I was browsing some BitTorrent site, noticed this game in the "recently added" list, checked it's description, liked what I read, and downloaded it. Of course, I ended up liking it, and when I like something I'm always willing to pay for it. So I started looking in stores for this game, but I could
