You thought that version of ET was bad? You should have seen it on the Atari 2600! It STUNK! Also, a few more of my worst games from the Atari: Haunted House (Terrible since almost everything is in the dark... just a little match to light the way; sounds are terrible) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVJK6_Wx7rU Adventure (You were a cursor that ran arround

Sorry in advance to both sides of the argument but, here is my 2 cents: 1) I could care less if I get a printed manual or a box. 2) I frequent the forums so I knew advance that I would not receive either. 3) Had I not frequented the forums, however, I would have assumed that a box was available based upon the information available on the order pages (images and text). 4) In my mind, if enough people made this same mistaken assumption or would have made this assumption had th
Farscape... SciFi network totally blew the ending to this show. I'd love to see what they had in store for the last season.
no worries. thanks
Ron - With all due respect a Beta version of any product is not the final product. I've been involved with plenty of hardware and software development to know the difference. And no, none of the products I've been involved with have required Beta customers to fork over cash at any point. Anyways, the issue has been resolved. Thank you very much to Stardock Sales for doing the right thing. I really appreciate it. cheers, steve
How important could what be? It's got nothing to do with a baby and a job. It has to do with paying for a product that I don't even have in my hands yet and asking for my money back before it is in my hands. Not an unreasonable request I should think. I didn't have to give a reason, but did to avoid personal attacks. Clearly not a wise strategy on my part. cheers and sorry to have wasted anyone's time, steve
Doctor J- Thanks! I don't have any tokens and I don't plan on getting rid of my GalCivII Trilogy (single-player games I may be able to find time for ;) ). So I don't have a desire to transfer the account. At this point I think I've "justified" the purchase to myself (and beautiful wife) by reselling many of my old titles... some, surprisingly, for full purchase price. Yarlen - If publishers want a piece of the "used game" pie, why not setup a system that allows your customers to do thi
Hmmm... Maybe there is a market for this! A secure way to resell/transfer accounts for a cut of the sales prices. Almost like selling a "real"/"physical" game on Ebay or Amazon. Sounds like I'm stuck this this. Thanks for trying, steve
As I recall the GuildWars series had/has similar issues. At least a couple of years ago some were complaining about the ability to resell used copies. I don't think the issue was ever solved. I hope this isn't the future trend of game sales. It would stink not being able to recoup part of the cost of games you no longer play. steve
Thanks guys. Maybe there is a way around this to make my happy without imposing difficulties on Stardock. How easy is it to re-sell a game like this and transfer your serial code? I've never really tried. Maybe that's what I'll do (assuming I haven't found time again somehow between now and the release date). cheers, chewy PS - My only real issue with the return policy is that they kinda penalize those who order early. I do understand why they have the policy though.
Oh! I didn't mean a bad life changing event! Thanks for the concern though. It is actually a convergence of: new better job with longer commute and a new child. The latter is what is really eating into my free time. I figure I only have time for one new title (latest GalCivII expansion). I'm in the process of liquidating all my other titles. cheers, steve
Hmmmm. I just got a less than hoped for response. Apparantly Stardock doesn't refund software that is in Beta or some such thing? I haven't even played the Beta. Note that this isn't a software quality issue or anything. I just had a life-changing event that is going to prevent any "gaming" for the foreseable future. Thanks again, steve PS- I am actively working this issue with the sales people. I am just hoping someone has better answers here.
How do I go about getting a refund for this product? Given that it is still in Beta I assume refunds are not an issue? thanks in advance, steve
RTS: Warhammer 40K (although I'm quickly getting bored) TBS: GalCiv2, Chess TBS+RTT: Rome Total War (TBS+RTT = Turn-Based Strategy plus Real Time Tactical)
MP may not be essential, but it is a big value-adder in my book. Sure I like playing Chess, card games, Axis & Allies, and many other turn-based strategy games against the PC, but there is no substitute for a flesh and blood opponent. Stardock does deserve cudos for their human-like AI, but nobody can match the real thing. cheers, chewy
Wow! A lot to read in this thread and I can only claim to have read half of it, so please forgive me if I am rehashing ideas here. My only thought on turn-based MP is this: many of you concerns are were easily addressed in my favorite turn-based strategy game ever - chess. You give people time limits. Each player gets N minutes to play with. Time is only deducted from their clock once their turn starts; during other players turns you l
Hmmm... a lot of ship builder comments, but I'm surprised no one mentioned the one I'm seeing. When I goto the ship builder screen during a game, select an existing ship design I want to upgrade, and click the upgrade button all I get is the hull of the ship I'm trying to upgrade with none of its engines/weapons/sensors on it. Maybe it is just my misunderstanding of how this feature was intended to be used. Let me 'spain my understanding/ho
I'm not sure if this is a bug or just user ignorance, but I can't seem to upgrade or decommission ships when they are in the same sqare as other ships (be it stacked or in a fleet). To upgrade/decommission a ship I have to remove it from the fleet, move it one square away, and then I FINALLY get the Upgrade or Destroy(?) buttons on the left side of the ship view panel. chewy Debug Message: Version v1.1 BETA-1 last up

I'de love to know an answer to the Trade technology part of the tree as well. It seems to me that if you have an ally (as in the 1st mission) you should be able to trade with them. In fact the Quarterly Report is constantly recommending that I establish trade routes. How do you do this with an entire portion of the tech tree missing (i.e., Trade, Advanced Trade, Master Trade)?!? Help! chewy
