Personally my first act after buying a new PC (back in the days before I just started building my own) was to wipe the preinstalled software off the hard drive. This looks like it would be further incentive to do so. Really Vinraith?
I always build my own now, but many of my customers have this done (which is not cheap) because it can turn an ok computer into a useful tool. Unfortunately, this does not fix Vista's ridiculous usage of resources. On the other han

They do indeed. First of all, the first shot rule no longer applies unless you are the only one with the first strike super ability. Otherwise, each ship gets a shot even if it is destroyed in the first round. The weapon techs don't seem to favor smaller ships quite so much (though still more than I'd like them to) as well.

May I humbly suggest that your web server is hitting a request limit. In the past, behavior with the exact appearance of the issues here were caused by the hosting software hitting a software limit on the number of concurrent requests. Naturally you have probably already checked that, but what does it hurt to mention it? One might also be inclined to note that the server always eventually responds (at least over here), so it is getting the request and is queuing them.
Vista isn't being well received. This is a way to make it easier for users to use Vista.
Can you guys do anything to make Vista less of a resource hog? I think that is the major problem with switching. Second to its plethora of bugs and UI failures. That I would pay for.

An in game timer would be much more useful and effective. I already keep a timer by the computer when gaming and have dual display with clock. Most folks don't though.

This sounds like a possible heat problem. If the framerate lowers over time while playing, something is changing over that time. Check that your card is not overheating, and that the system processor and chipset are running nice and cool. Also, you should make sure that your are in hardware rendering mode. If you are in software mode you will get terrible performance.

I believe your problem is that you removed the real colony module. The base ship appears to have two, but one is just jewelry. You probably removed the real one, but left the fake one. One colony module will care 250 colonists in TA.
