If you have the latest stable version of OD+ (1.90) then just right-click in an empty space in one of your docks, then go "add" and then "add weather docklet" (or similar). that will add a blank docklet, on which you click and above window will show.

Download SDC or Impulse (from the Products link at the top) and the rest is pretty much straight-forward :)
The way I have it is to have a tabbed dock somewhere with one tab being the system tray icons. I also have a sidedock where the current tasks are held (I think there's a tickbox that switches that on and off). It's up to you to decide how much of a suggestion that is :)
This might have something similar to do with the bug I'm having with OD disappearing after returning from Hibernate mode. Then again it might not. As far as I know Support and Devs are aware of it
