If an opponent invades one of your worlds with low approval rating and goes for Information War more people will defect to his side.

So which method gains the most sales? There's no definitive answer for that. I think a given game's demographics have a lot to do with piracy rates in the first place. - Accidentally break your copy protected CD and your whole investment is gone, and then if you wanna play you either h
Just a couple of thought: Maybe I missed it, but is there any reason whatsoever to play neutral og good? Though I like evil a lot it would be more interesting if good was a usable option. Shouldn't all those evil, population-killing schemes have a detrimental effect on morale? That way it would be more of a choice between different goals, not just a "hmm, if I vote good now I'll lose all benefits, let me think ..... *click*Evil*click*".
Yea it's like this: New Turn: 1 Human player does his moves, including changing ship destinations for autopiloted vessels Human clicks "New Turn" Autopilot moves autopiloted ships to their destinations New Turn: 2 Imagine the horror if it were: New Turn: 1 Autopilot moves autopiloted ships to their destinations Human player does his moves on remaining ships Human clicks "New Turn"
OldNick, If a Construtor flies past an anomaly it's probably because it isn't outfitted with a Survey Module and hence can't explore anomalies. But I agree: I don't think the AI cheats.
People facing a steep learning curve, yet without the patience to at least give it a go, are funny. Reminds me - an oldtimer - of the days where n00bs in StarCraft would say "Terrans are teh only race you can win with". It was always funny to play Zerg against them
If you don't build farms you don't get enough citizens to pay taxes. More citizens is good because it means more taxes, if and only if you pay close attention to the morale issues. I think most people underestimate how quickly they need to research the various xeno entertainment techs - also watch out for new types of entertainment where your old stadiums do not get auto-upgraded. Also, it is better to smooch a population of 20b with 20% taxes instead of a 10b planet with 40% taxes due to the mo
Hi Derekroth1, I noticed with the Stadium thingies that they do not get auto-upgraded when you invent the zero g stadium - so you may have to demolish an old stadium to get the new and better version. Regarding economy I don't see how the economy should be so utterly different from the rest of the game. Build and research enough, get enought trade routes and build starbases to get more out of trade routes. My economy usually is wa
Shields are at the Deflector/Barriers/Force Fields branch.
My intuition tells me that most crashes I've experienced is when the game gets into a situation where it shouldn't be possible to be, e.g. I acquire Laser V but the shipyard doesn't show any weapons. Have you tried starting a new game that's presumably free of inconsistencies? (no it's not a solution, but anyway ...)
I could easily have been in the same situation, but I usually Speak To the races and trade techs. E.g. I'm lagging behind on military I find someone with: Shield Shield II Shield III Laser V Plasma Plasma II I usually just go for the Shield III and the Plasma II. And then straight to the shipyard to implement the new and riciculously powerful techs. And I just saved myself the trouble of researching all t
It's not always 100% transparent, but freak resources found, anomalies bonuses from early in the game to trade goods might influence things. Also, one decision in council is to share star bases benefits with allies so maybe a bonus or two "appeared out of nowhere" this way. Or they might have gotte the ship from the Yor who have extra mini (I think) It would really be lame if it was an actual cheat.
Minor races: Influence starbases can give diplomatic bonuses even if the IP isn't used in the planetary council, and I wonder if they influence who opponents will surrender to? Transparency (Trade): If you rely on trade for all your Economy then you've certainly learned a lesson on why you shouldn't put all your eggs in the same basket. Research and build some economy buildings on the planets .... or never go to war <img src="htt
You should be able to use those files from work to install the game at home as well. As I understand it, if you registered your serial to the account you're posting from here you should be able to download the game from the GalCiv2 folks?
Here's my story and attitude towards copy protection, piracy and whatever. I met GalCiv2 first through a bittorrent download. The uploader was pretty enthusiastic about the "Optional step: serial" and I though "what the WHAT ... gotta try this". Downloaded and played through a couple of times. Second thought was: "man these people who developed the game are really nice people and they're treating everyone as adults ... there are no threats". A pretty weird experienc after h
