Awesome, awesome, and awesome. I go away for a week and a half for a move, and come back to this. Happy times! Cheers to all you folks. Looking forward to camping the IRC channel again soon.

If you're one of the people unlucky enough to be on dialup or if you know someone who is, recommend it to them as well. My friend (who can't get broadband in his area) and I have played 5 or 6 games via GameRanger now, and the LAN simulation seems to do better. The game was actually playable for us even just connecting via the game, but the lag is slightly better simulating LAN, there's slightly less hitching, and so far we haven't had any disconnects at all for any reason, where

It doesn't seem to hurt the game too much, either way. I've played through the tournament mode twice now and it's actually quite a lot of fun! Technically speaking it is fairly different from most games of this type, or at least those that I've played. It's almost like an RTS deathmatch tournie or something, and there are some intricacies there that skew things a little differently from jumping online.

Explains just about everything, thanks very much for the details. Now get some sleep, for God's sake! We need you fresh next week. ;)

Keep up the great work. I understand everyone's frustration at having these problems affect the game early on, but the fact that you guys have given us legitimate reasons for the problems and are open about what you're doing is a big help, not to mention your hard work trying to address the issues as fast as possible. I'm fully convinced the game will be more stable and reliable in 2 weeks than Left 4 Dead has yet managed to be 5 months after release.

Don't be so quick to judge. There are still people out there who live in places where broadband isn't available, yes even in the US. One of my good friends is in that boat. He's been trying for years but he simply can't get the access. Anyway, I'm thinking multiplayer would be okay. We played with a guy last night whose ping was over 600 at all times, and damn near 2000 at some points. We (a local friend of mine on the west coast US, also on broadband) made it through an entire gam

Quick update: it's happened 4 times since this post, but each times it's just been a short flicker or two and then it goes back to normal. Weird. And yes, just in case, I know it's related to this game alone and not Windows/my video connections/other games/etc.

To start: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2GB RAM, XP/SP2, 7800GT I checked around and didn't see mention of this anywhere, so wanted to start up a new thread. It may well be related to the nvidia problem that we all know and love, but I have no way of knowing at this point because it's a new error that just started occurring for me. I did originally experience the well-known nvidia driver crash bug, but as it has for some people, turning off the bloom effects seemed to do

I posted in another thread on this topic, but yes, this seems to have worked for me. I'm on XP/SP2 with a 7800GT, and while I wasn't getting a BSOD, I was getting the driver errors and the crashes. Turning off bloom seems to have prevented the problem from recurring, though I still get the "screen blips" that happen right before it used to crash. These are very infrequent, thankfully, and aren't really even very distracting. Now if I could only figure out the minidump crash I got las
