He's a publisher, not a developer. Just thought I'd point this out.
Stardock is both. They just happen to be the publisher of this particular game. They developed Gal Civ 2 + expansions.

After watching Stardock's involvement with not only their own game Gal Civ 2, but also Sins, I figured that they'd do the same with Demigod. Nice to see I wasn't wrong. Stardock's attitude and involvement with their customers have made them one of my favorite software companies.
Didn't the minions giving Gold/XP in DotA lead to Last Hitting? I got the impression that Last Hitting was...micromanagement hell.
This is one of those things that a lot of us have already gotten used to. So, it's not really new to us. The pirates aren't a true faction. Just the way it is. IC might change that later and make the pirates a true faction, but at the moment, they are a respawning raid force/planetary garrison from hell.
If game data gets changed (and it probably will be), expect any patch to break mods and saves. In other words, back up your install now and/or wait until you finish any current games before updating.
Having been accused of cheating in another game all of once, I can tell you this: If you weren't cheating, and someone says you're cheating, they are complimenting you. Smile and move on. Sounds like you had a balanced fleet vs a non-balanced fleet and you won. Gee, what a shocker. Don't let it bother you (as long as you weren't cheating) and move on. It's not anything to worry about. Just allow the warm glow of their hatred to wash over you and fill you with joy
In my 1.03 game, the prices aren't remaining static. They are moving all over the place. As it's just me vs 3 other AIs, maybe they and I are buying and selling enough to move it all over the place. It's possible with 7 economist AIs that they are either A)balancing each other out when they buy/sell or B)Not using the black market all that much. I would find B) to be hard to believe...but it's possible. Regardless, I see the market fluctuating a lot myself.
Welcome to the game. Hope you enjoy it. Size of savings...very much dependant on play style. I generally run as close to 0 as I can, due to the fact that I don't see a reason to hang onto stuff. It doesn't build interest or anything. Yes, I get into positions where I don't have the chance to build up an emergency fleet, but there are ways around that (cough, Vasari RA, cough). There is no unit upkeep cost. Upkeep is built in on how large your fleet COULD be...not is, but c
Actually, I was noticing that I didn't seem to have an issue with the missions. I couldn't understand why people had been bothered by them. Of course, I had never, before last night, played with Unlocked teams. As it was, I didn't seem to have any issue or feel too pressured. Guess that would be why then. Might continue to play with them unlocked for now.
::makes note about this:: Ah, so that explains why I was suddenly getting missions last night. Okay then. I'll have to remember this later. To repeat, Thanks Annatar.
Tried it last night, not just on my Mods folder, but on the saves and replay folders for single player. Works in all my attempts and saves so far. I decided to go with this solution instead of the registry editing solution I had. Thanks again, ZJBDragon.
It says that "User data files that have file associations registered with File Explorer must be placed in a subfolder of the folder that is specified by CSIDL_PERSONAL (also called Documents or My Documents). " I don't know, but are you sure this applies to Saved Games and Replays? To me, from reading that, those files actually fall into "All other user data files must be stored in a subfolder of the folders that are specified by CSIDL_LOCAL_APPDATA or CSIDL_COMMON_APPDATA. (Th
I have a suspicion that the location of the mod file is NOT hardcoded...primarily because I got it to change. That is actually the question I have for Ironclad. Is it hardcoded or not? I don't believe it is. I was wondering if my suspicion on how it is generated is correct, but was looking mainly for a "Yes" or "No" to that hardcoded question.
TEC = Bullets and armor + Credits. Advent = Shields and Culture Vasari = Phase Missiles and "DEAR LORD HOW BIG IS THAT FLEET?" (They get bonuses to supply points along with Returning Armada)
You know what? I completely agree. It would be nice to have an alternate spot. I'm not sure if they can do it, but you're right, it would be nice. I just believe that they honestly can't...but if they could, I bet they would.
Found it. From Microsoft's site: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb173456.aspx 2.1 Follow User Account Control Guidelines Requirement Every executable file (that is, every file that has a .exe extension) must contain an embedded manifest that defines its execution level by including the following tag: Copy Code Per requirement 1.2, the main game and autorun executable must have the execution level of asInvoker to supp
Interesting thought from above... Inactive pirates = militia. Extremely well armed, orbital gun-wielding militia, sure...but still more like militia than anything else I guess.
Probably a better idea to ask in the Mod's thread or review that thread to see if the author has put up any information. And though I don't know for sure, I'm reasonably certain you can count on the major mods, if not all of them, being updated for 1.03/1.04/1.05/etc...until they get tired of it. And if/when they get tired of it, I'm sure they'll announce it in the thread.
I actually figured this out last night and am testing it over the next couple of days. Didn't want to say anything about it since I'm testing it and I have a question for the developers about how Sins handles something...but yeah, it seems to work. And you can mess up your system with it.
I wouldn't expect this in any patch upcoming. I'll be surprised if it does change.
2 cents, incoming... First - Pirates don't seem to be that big a threat. It doesn't take much to learn to deal with them. They are instead, for many, a source of experience and a backup harrasment tool to be used, wielded, and then destroyed when they are no longer useful. Second - Some people just don't want to worry about them at all. This is a perfectly valid viewpoint. Third - A choice that people had in the last patch was removed. There is no way to sugar
Novalith's and the other megaweapons are very much support weapons, if used sparingly. The lengthly cool down time along with the speed of recovery of the targets, means that the cannon's effects will be dramatic in the short term. Now, if you've got a LOT of them, then they become deadly and can be used as primary tools of conquest. Without a number of them...then they are just support weapons.
I was actually referring to the fact that it can shoot between solar systems. Sorry, should have made that clear. Novalith: Now with Interstellar Pwnage! Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if that gets changed...so enjoy it while you can.
I think this is also an added Feature that TEC has not made part of their marketing campaign. In other words, it probably wasn't supposed to...but it does. Enjoy it until they change it.
I think that this is an issue that is due to the restrictions placed on Windows games by Microsoft. It's not something that Ironclad can control, I believe. At least, that's the impression I've heard. A related question is what OS are you running? There might be an option in XP to modify where the Documents and Settings folder is, but I'm not sure there is one in Vista. Bottom Line - A LOT of people have complained about this...but so far, there's been no hint of anything that can b
