I must be doing something terribly wrong. I have played 3-4 games on tough, with all 9 enemies set on intelligent, so no economic advantages for anyone. I have been trying to figure out what characteristics affect trade, but am a tad lost. For example, does more speed on a freighter make a route more profitable? When ultradrives were discovered I got the feeling all my routes increased in value by 50% (was not monitoring closely before that), so I proceeded to spend over 4k bcs to upgrade all my traders just about doubling their speed, but I saw no rise in trade profit coming from it.
