I think I figured it out, about speed and defense etc. there comes a point where your average shot is sufficent to kill one of there fighters each turn. (2x there hp). after this point it is more effective to place defensive measures to prolong the life of your fighters. if he responds with his own defense, then up your attack untill it can on average kill in 1 shot. this becomes particularly important when say your battle ship can deal 200damage

Problem: In large or bigger maps I find it exceedingly difficult to find where events have happend; such as the invasion of a planet or the loss of a fleet etc. I also find it very hard to find 1 planet or star out of all of them. One possible solution: add a search button which returns a list of planets/stars which match the query. (it would also be nice to be able to get a list of habitiable , uncolonized stars, which you've expl

the more I play the more I realize high pq planets are just holes in space thru which you endlessly pour social production. sure there neat but they just take forever to finish. (cant wait for the no social waste update).

In almost all of my games i dont escort my transports simply becuase there too fast. they really dont need an escort once they can move 9pc/wk. ive also noticed in some cases the ai wont even pay attn to my unescorted transport (on painfull btw).

personally I find anything bigger then large to be just unmanagable and costly time wise. but the real secret is 1 ai on suicidial > 9 suicidal ai's. the reason is if theres 8 of them fighting each other and not you then its already game over for them and its just a matter of time before you consolidate other peoples empires gain a slight advantage and continously kill the weakest one untill you win.

but what is the counter? you cant out tech them since each tech is exponentially more expensive but the bonus is linear so even if you get +4-5 techs on them they only have to get 1-2 more or so to catch up. you could attack first but if you dont kill them in 1 shot the problem still persists. if you go the defensive route the tech issue comes back up.

xentac to counter that you could easily say the attacker gets the advantage becuase he can choose to attack from an angle thats harder to defend from; and then the defender would have to get into position.

while I agree the mechanic is rather cheap. optimally IMO it simply wouldnt let you make any transaction which would lower you below -2000cr (which is how i play incidently, no reason to 'cheat' the game even if its a legal move)

oh i just figured it out, i think +attack % (50) is like have almost an extra 50% minaturization for the majority of the hull. so if youve got say 100spot, take 30 for misc items and 70 for weapons its like piling on 105 and you didnt pay for the extra 35.

I just got done playing a tough game on a large map. this time around I decided to try the attack%(50%) bonus racial and play as the yor. after the initial land grab i had a very large number of stars and I was putting tremendous presure on the drath who quickly declared war since i had no military. just a short couple of turns later i produced my first medium hull with 4 missile attack. the drath had better logistics and more ships but i was able to

cant edit post, server exception 4; so ill just ask in another post. "Unused Social Spending routed to military spending (or back to treasury if nothing is being used)" does this mean that globally unused social spending is rerouted to military spending or that it applies only for that planet which has no social production? also any ideas why my medals arnt showing?

just went and tested it, my homeworld was clas 10, abandoned now class 8. class 4 planet became a class 1 planet. wish there were a way to make it a class 0 planet. guess you could recolonize over and over again but thats not terribly effective in war time.

Althought I would like to micro the hell out of my colonys too. it has been stated a number of times that the reason the way things are is A) makes it easier to manage, and B) so the computer cant out micro you. personally i think all the problems could be solved by.... you have 3 planets A B C and the current silders from the game planet A has a max of 100(s) planet B has a max of 33(s) and planet C has a max of 33

In game that are large or bigger I find the crap planets (pq 3-7/8 ish) to be rather worthless due to the amount of development that can happen on them. infact they often are never able to break even economically (or atleast develope in a timly maner) generally speaking I avoid these planets at all costs. however the problem is that the AI eventualy will take them. Later on when war breaks out between me and some other AI ; the AI will have

multiple moral centers seem to have no effect on morale past the first buiding, but different buildings will add up. ex: 2 entertainment buildings is just as effective as 1 . however adding a stock exchange and harmony crystals will add there bonuses. the same goes for economic buildings 2 advanced economic centers will not stack there bonuses.
