Judging from the screenshots this will not be the case. There are sectors with one, two and even three stars in them (if i'm not mistaken) and they aren't just in the middle.

Look Star Pilot, i wasn't planning to post anything else but i want to make a few things clear. I see your point and i agree. I really DON'T want realism as well. I was suggesting that novas would be a very rare event. By that i meant that in a game there will be a slight possibility that a star would go nova (only 1 star) and in this way in most games there wouldn't be such an event. BUT, not all stars would go nova. ONLY red stars. Players would be aware of the risk and wouldn't invest t
1) No i don't want realism and i think i've explained it enough. Just a remote sense of it. Read my previous posts and you will see. 2) Any suggestion i have presented was for an expansion. I haven't stated that but i thought it was pretty obvious. You guys know what? Just forget the whole thing. I don't like being against the whole community. Ok, noone agrees with me. That's fine. Just pretend i wrote a whole bunch of crap (you already think so anyway) and put the subject to re
Well, for the record i have played the GC I demo extensively. But i guess you all GC veterans know better. I won't say anything else. All i wanted was to create an Armageddon kind of scenario. But there are no terror stars, no novas, no nothing. Poor me..... Over and out.
What is going on with that edit thing anyway?
Oh well, i give up! You guys got stong points. I guess the fact that there is no planetary destruction weapon has affected me. Now i won't be able to create an Armageddon kind of scenario......
Ok, let me further expand my point: About scaling: Maybe i'm wrong here. I admit it . But i still believe a little more spacing between planets and stars is needed but that's ok i guess About the number of planets: Let's say 10 planets will be too much. I think couple of more planets won't hurt. If you can't find a specific planet in the solar system it's your own fault. I have played SE IV where there are many planets in each system and yet i don't lose track of the good ones. Ab
I just don't get it. Why don't people want novas in the game as an OPTION? Would it bother them so much? If you don't want your stars to go nova you will be able to disable this feature completely. How does this sound to you? It sounds fair to me.
who talked about realism?
I think you guys completely misunderstood my point on scaling. I don't want it to be completely realistic. Not even close. I was thinking of making stars a little bigger (let's say 1 or 2 cm at most), increase the distance of the planets from the stars a bit and if possible through a few more planets in the system so that it feels more epic in scale. I don't want a simulator either and honestly i don't see how a few 'tweaks' here and there would make the game less fun. Stardock could always thr
I wasn't talking about exact scaling. If you read my post carefully i don't expect the scale to be as it is in reality. Only more distinct. SE V screenshots illustrate my point better.
I think things like super novas, black holes and meteors should definately be added in an expansion. We could adjust the frequency and severity of the events to our liking or even turn them off completely (just like in SE). I'm sure this would please everybody. If you all agree with that i'm sure stardock will consider them for a future expansion.
I don't know if anyone feels the same way, but i find 5 planets for each solar system not to be sufficient. I would prefer less stars in the galaxy with more planets around them. Why aren't there more planets? The way i see it there should be at least 10 planets if not more. Also, the fact that all the planets are so close to the star seems a bit weird and it makes the systems look even smaller. Plus most of them seem to have a very small distance with each other (almost none existant
Will the game be available on retail throughout the EU?
While these things do take many millions of years to happen, it seems reasonable to allow a certain degree of abstraction in regards to these events. We already do that with plenty of other things. No one is suggesting that these things would happen more than once per game per galaxy (and even that wouldn't be certain), nor is anyone suggesting that you wouldn't have any w
an update that will add the terror star!
Hey, what about us Europeans? I haven't seen something specific. Or is Feb.21th a global release date or something?
Nothing more specific, unless you have something to trade, something flashy, lots of lights I do love lights. Especially ones that move around. W/R Suralle Straykat I will say the happenings can really help and really screw you depending on what exactly happens and your ethical alignment. What they are I will leave for suspense and thrill. I had an old chi
I agree 100%. But believe me when i tell you, i have seen a few forums that are sooooooo lame that i didn't know what to say. Fortunately, even though this forum is small, it is well designed, easy to navigate and more importantly active.
1) I believe Yarlen stated that theory wise, there could be as many as 5000 colonizable type planets, so at a minimum that is about 1000 star systems.... What?!? A THOUSAND Star Systems MINIMUM??? That's really A LOT of stars
I have a few questions regarding solar systems and planets: 1) How many solar systems does the largest galaxy in the game contain? 2) Are there any differences between stars other than colour (size, number of planets orbiting it etc.)? 3) Do planets have their own satellites? If so, what is their purpose other than eye-candy? 4) How many planets can a solar system support? 5) Do planets have unique names (mars, venus, jupiter etc.)? Will we be able no rename each one ind
Yes, you can do that just like with any other file. Just copy to a CD and when you get home run it from the CD!

In reference to the original poster...how could SE5 be a copy cat of GalCiv? The SE series has been around commercially for 10 years now. Unless I'm badly mistaken, GalCiv hasn't been around nearly so long. Copy cat...yeah. Uh huh. I didn't mean it that way. I know SE is a totally different game but as i said i couldn't find much information a
This Sword of the Stars does look very interesting i must say. Strange that i've never heard of it before. Judging from the screenshots the combat part looks awsome but the strategy map seems a bit strange to me. I am playing Rome: Total War these days and if it's anything like that, the strategy interface will probably just be an excuse for the strategic battles wich as i understand will be the main attraction of the game. But R:TW is an icredibly addictive game so SotS might also b
