I've spent countless hours playing this phenominal game, but the story and racial descriptions have always been lacking. I know this is not the strong point of this game, and it was probably developed by number crunchers with a heavy emphasis on AI and playability, but a good campaign plot and more interesting races would do so much to improve the game. The epic game is great, but no single player campaign has ever bored me as much as gal civ's. The races are mostly boring and uninspire

the problem with space pirates: problem 2: dirty space pirates being vastly more powerful than the entire galaxy's combined fleets? who writes this crap? solution a: change the name to dread lords or some other power that suddenly warps into known space. solution b: make them much weaker and faster and only attack shipping/starbases/mines/etc. thats more in the flavor or pirates problem 1: they sometimes come way too early! they destroy everyone

do you guys have tech trading on or off? it seems that turning it off gives evil civs a big advantage, since their diplomacy rating doesnt really matter. i've played about 5 straight games with it off and have yet to see the korath lose a war. the drengin are usually the only other civ close enough but they get smacked if i bribe them to attack the korath.

tiny ships should get bonuses vs large and huge ships. giving ships a paper/rock/scissors type bonus would make them pretty useful and force you to vary fleets. smaller ships are always inferior to larger ones. that is pretty cheesy and unrealistic

i play on painful or tough difficulty with tech trading off, and the Korath become dominant in every game i play. the only way i can stop them is to try to get the second and third most powerful civs to goto war with them until i can build up enough to fight. i wonder if the AI can't handle the Spore ships. i have a hard time defending against them. they are ridiculously powerful, and turn your planets into poisonous hellholes even if you get them back.

surrendering to a neutral power should really hurt relations in that case. the neutral race is effectively entering the war on the loser's side. i think its mostly kind of dumb. at the very least it shouldnt be random.
