Recently, I finished the Age of Empires III single-player campaign and I have played through a few skirmish matches. What follows are my impressions of the game on its own and in comparison with its predecessors, Age of Mythology and Age of Empires 2 . AoEIII does represent, as my ti

Personally, I've had nothing but good experiences buying from Newegg; they have good prices on hardware upgrades and the shipping times are very fast. I don't know that I've ever dealt with TigerDirect, mostly because their prices seem ludicrously high on many items. Boss is right--most Dell machines don't use proprietary architecture--that's probably Gateway you're thinking about. So you shouldn't have any problem with the memory as long a

The upcoming MyColors Manager will soon automatically detect which software you have and make use of it. But it isn't out yet. Frogboy, Thanks for finally giving us some info straight from the horse's mouth on this point. This weird OD-MyColors jiggery-pokery was making me personally quite leery of installing any MyColors content, and I believe a number of WC users were wondering about how

Well, I, for one, think this is pretty cool. I remember the Amiga quite well, as the proud former owner of an A2000 system with dual-floppy drives. The article seems to indicate that people don't expect this revival to actually happen, but it would be cool if it did. Frankly, the Amiga was way ahead of its time, with graphics and sound capabilities far in excess of any personal computer of its generation. My Amiga kicked ass! Sadly, it didn

Well, in my opinion, these lists are kinda screwy. First, the "avoid" list includes an extension that I have used for as long as it's been around, and no ad-filled website will persuade me to discard--AdBlock. It's one of those rare extensions that a) does what it says it will and b) does so without causing a lot of crashes. The other extension I use frequently, which does appear on the "must-have" list is IETab. A lot of websites and many

rename the files to a zip and extract what you want I'm sure that's doable, Snidely, but the question is this: could the MyColors team create versions of the suites for people who already have licenses for Object Desktop that don't include the runtime software (and maybe then would be the same price as a typical suite [$9-10])?

I watched Hollywoodland last week. It begs comparison to the other recent, true-but-unsolved-crime period piece, The Black Dahlia . It's a favorable comparison for the former film. Black Dahlia stars Josh Hartnett and Aaron Eckhart (two actors I've never really cared for) as L.A. cops and Scarlett Johannson as the third point of their lov

Well, I tend to agree with SanChonino. Torment had an excellent story because of its characters, and having the player decide the backstory of those characters would have either weakened the story or made it a very different game from what it turned out to be. However, as you say, to each his own. . . . I think a Baldur's Gate-style RPG would be terrific. I'd even go so far as to recommend using 2D graphics with an isometric POV. It

No matter what your political persuasion may be, you must concede that this is very disturbing video: Link . My eyes were starting to weep blood like the villain in Casino Royale . The footage on CBS News showed that even Bush had a curious expression, hovering somewhere between amused and bemused

I suppose everyone will have to forgive my ignorance, but I'm not exactly sure what Sir Lantec means by "bump". I too would like to know whether MyColors themes are/will be made available in a more Object Desktop-friendly version.

I should first point out that I had a certain bias against this movie long before I saw it. Why? Daniel Craig strikes me as a poor choice of physical type to play the character of James Bond. It was the production company's decision to terminate Pierce Brosnan's tenure in the role, and frankly, I don't see why. Brosnan, who had been consid

I don't really use YouTube, but I disagree with some of the points being raised here. First, Frogboy pointed out initially that, as he understands it (and such is my understanding), entire TV shows or films cannot be uploaded to the site. Whether brief clips 2-4 minutes long constitute a misuse of the "fair use" clause is probably a matter for the lawyers to pick apart, but it seems to me that Frogboy and some of the other poster

When I bought WindowBlinds as a standalone, I got a Windowblinds 5.x version. I think (someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong about this) that when you purchase a single OD component, you get a year of free updates to that component. Try downloading the update through Stardock Central. Hope this helps.

vStyler: I think you missed Vad_M's point, which is that the real bad guys can readily circumvent any IP-banning that WC would apply to an entire country; therefore, doing such a blanket ban would only hurt legitimate users like Vad_M, who could (if he chose) use an expensive workaround. However, I agree with MySecret--I don't think Frogboy was actually serious about banning all Russian IP addresses: (see the winky smile) <div class="Articl

I just returned the Hellboy: Sword of Storms DVD to Netflix. In many ways, I found the movie to be superior to the live-action version. The characters felt very similar, thanks to the fact that the filmmakers hired most of the same actors for the animated movie. The story seemed to flow much more naturally than in the live-action film, probably because th

I'll take a stab at sViz's suggestion. FYI, I was (and maybe this is doing things the dumb/hard way?) manipulating the state by using the systray icon (in other words, not during testing, but got out of DesktopX Builder altogether and ran the widget in the runtime environment). Zubaz- yes, this is probably possible through manipulating the Z-order, but hey, man, I'm just trying to figure out hide and show right now! <img src="htt

Hey, Vad_M, I tried out your script example. I think you may have misunderstood what I was asking. I see that your script uses the test object to display the screen x and y of the marvin.walking object and the sound it is currently set to play. Also, if I'm reading it right, it appears that it disables the sound when the marvin.walking object is not visible on screen; in other words, when it has "walked" off-screen. However, what I was look
