Zubaz - sorry to bother you again, but I am still struggling trying to get support. I received an e-mail response a week ago asking me to do some things including installing a registry patch. I did what was asked and responded that what was suggested did not work. I included details. I wonder if my response was received? Is there any telephone support options like in the good old days? While I am not in a hurry, I am not a young man and fear at the pace t

Thanks! Like I said no rush getting a response. I have version 4 working fine, but at some point would like to upgrade to version 5.
Thanks. I just sent it again. Maybe four times will be a charm. Please let me know if it wasn't received or I am sending to the wrong address. support@stardock.com is where it's going.
I purchased IP 5.1 several weeks ago and have been unable to install it. I submitted a support ticket - Ticket ID: RRW-220-60943 Oct 22, 2012. The support advisor asked me to run a support tool and send the zip output file back. I did that. I received a response several days later that I had 48 hours to respond to the request to run the support tool or my request for support would be canceled. I sent the zip file in a second time, waited several days and
There are a few skins (like the 2008 GUI winner FreeArea) where the start menu shows the text on the right half of the XP Start Menu, but not the icons. Wondering is that a skin design phonomena or is there a WB setting I can change to have the icons show up? Thanks.
Thanks Bichur. That did it. I'm impressed with Stardock software. I like every SD program I have, however, this is the third time I've had to force a change manually in the registry to get a Stardock program to work fully. What's up with that? I don't think I'm running any security software or settings that should prevent registry changes. SD software seems to be the only software that has a registry modification problem. I'd like to understand what that's all about if anyone knows
I'm going to be lazy, so forgive me :) Normally I search the forum before posting, but it's been a long week. I bought IconPackager last week. I have version 3.20. I downloaded several very nice icon packages from Wincustomize and Deviantart. If I try to load these packages using IconPackager's "Load" function I get an error that I'm missing a file. I seem to recall the missing file to be sdcunzip.dll (or something similar to that). To get around this missing file problem, I rename the
mitche323 - thanks for the comments and the suggestion. The lag I saw was slight, but enough that picky ole me noticed it with the more graphic intense skins. That, among other reasons, forced me "to bite the bullet" and replace the old beast with a newer unit. Don't see it anymore. I have a widescreen LCD. I've tried playing with the refresh rate, but haven't seen much effect. Do refresh rates even apply with LCD's? Curious minds want to know :) Thanks again. <br/
Koasatu - I missed the option to turn that stuff off. Thanks. I agree, we all have different tastes. Maybe that's why we're attracted to software that customizes our desktop. Hmmmm :D
Hankers - because I tried SDC ... didn't like the junk it added and then got rid of it. Simple enough concept. I trust you will respect that, even if you don't agree. SDC might be the right program for those who have the whole Object Desktop package. I own WB, DesktopX and SkinStudio. I don't need a third party program that sprays extra fluff on my hard drive to manage those installations. I know you're busy on this forum and volunteer your time. No intention to argue wit
I can understand this guy's frustration, maybe not his attitude, but certainly his frustration. I've had only one problem with WB. I filed a Tech Support ticket and received courteous help which in the end did not work. Both the support person and I were stumped. He suggested I post on this forum because there's plenty of help to be found here. The only help I got was the tired old response you see to every problem: 1) copy and paste your WB info here and 2) update your ver
When this happens to a legitimate user and you happen to be that user, it's darn frustrating. It happened to me with version 5.51. Turned out in my case it was the Windowblinds service not starting ater the 5.51 installation. I had to force the service to start manually by editing the registry. I have great faith in SD and think their software is great, but never again will I install a new version of Windowblinds without first making a full backup/image. Version 5.51 is th
Thanks Daiwa. That sounds better. SD does too good a job to let something sloppy like that happen. I am relieved ... like it matters :D
I don't use SDC, but am curious when updating with SDC does it inform you when you're updating with a beta version? Doesn't sound like it.
A little off topic, but related ... what is said about fonts also can apply to close, minimize and open window buttons. I am sight impaired and some buttons are too small to use practically on large monitors. I realize the buttons have to fit the skin theme and that individuals have different wants/needs, so passing this on just for information/consideration. The ability to change the button size in WB 7 would be a nice new feature :-)

Thanks Koasati. One of my all time favorite skins :)
jacatone - not sure which blind is "the best," but here are the three I use - 1. Windows Vista by 6205 2. Ultimate Aero by Rockuall 3. AeroGlassV5 by Ironjar All three have a XP start menu (i.e. no non-functional search line at the bottom of the start menu). Windows Vista and Ultimate Aero are very similar. I like Windows Vista's shutdown box better, otherwise hard to tell the difference. AeroGlassV5 has a different start menu than the other two blinds (the user icon
Absn - I'm sure SDC is a good and safe product to use. I don't use it because I'm anal retentive about what I put on my hard drive. It's not important to me to have the most up-to-the-minute build of anything. I upgrade only when there's a change in the version number. SDC installs extra files related to the various forums, the webpages it links to, and a handful of other unnecssary file/information. I own three SD products - WB, DesktopX and Skinstudio. There's not a lot of upda
Absn - I use the link in my e-mail or I logon to the Stardock site. Once you logon you are able to access your account. That gives you links to all your purchased programs. You can download the most current version from there and install it via the individual program installers. That's what I do. I'm not a SDC fan.
I'm running version 6.01 build 40 and WB was not integrated on my system either. It was with version 5.51, but not with 6.00 or 6.01. The reg fix you suggested Mike took care of the integration for me. I pass that on in case others are seeing the same thing. Thanks Mike.
deleyd - another skin you might consider is Impulse (author Z71). Not sure how it looks on Vista, but it's sure nice looking on XP. It has a blue theme similar to XP, a green XP like start button, and enough differences to XP to have an identity. One of my favorites. It was in the running for the 2006 best skin award at the 2006 GUI Championship. Never done a link before ... if I get it right here is a link to Impulse. If I get it wrong, you can search for it on Wincustomize. It's
Thanks ... Object Desktop is more than I need/want. I thught ODNT might be a newsletter I could subscribe to. My mistake. Regarding SDC - I see it as unnecessary bloat, just more junk to clean up on the hard drive. The WB installer generally works. When it doesn't, I just revert back with my back-up and wait until SD gets it right with the next build. Thanks for the replies. Plenty of themes to work with without the mystery ones <img src="smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 align=
What is ODNT? Is there anyway to get these themes without installing SDC? I have no interest in SDC. Thanks.
Mark - wow ... I'm impressed! Nice review. Not sure how long this drift will be allowed. I try to talk about WB in every post just to keep it partly on topic Ghost sounds like a fine product. I use Driveimage 5.0 on some older systems and hope some of that technology made its way to Ghost now that it's part of the Ghost/Symantec family. Just an fyi ... Drive Snapshot does create a one floppy DOS based recovery that
