Specifically for WindowBlinds skins - performance is highly dependant on the skin itself. UIS1+ skins are to be preferred, as they do not incur as great a performance penalty. You may find these on their own (see the UIS1+ section) or as optional sub-skins in a skin, often labelled "basic" or "light". What you need to do is have each of you login as separate users (on the first login, you have to take the option of remembering that new user's personal settings). WindowBlinds stores all of it's skin configuration in the current user section of the registry, so if you change the user, you change the settings, including which skin to load by default. If you're used to only having one "user" (even though more than one person uses the computer), have a look at the "Users" section of control panel.

So . . . what good would a bigger military have done, exactly? Could the US Army have prevented this? Or the Navy? Would they have detected the terrorists before they acted? What are the limits on skin previews? I keep on getting: aspSmartUpload.File error '800403f2' The file : 'C:\Program Files\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds\DigitalAge\DigitalAge.gif' is not allowed to be uploaded (Error 1010) /upload2.asp, line 120 The file in question is an animated GIF, size 65 Kb (I tried one 46 Kb big with the same results).

Why wouldn't a Napster-style thing - or better, a Gnutella-style thing - work? You could end up with a "Distributed Skins Network". People *like* XP wallpaper, possibly because MS prices it high enough that not everyone can afford the real thing.
