Okay.... I dunno if its just me or if other people have been thinking the same thing but these forums are just getting too small! I go to other forums and there are like places you can go and talk about anything and everything. And lately, I just have a lot I just want to talk about that isnt exactly galciv related but there is no place to go where I can talk to you guys about it. I just think that since your fan base is going to expand considerably within the next couple months, you
Thomasaurusrex
lmao, I love galciv fans. You guys are one funny bunch
Yeah, Im with you on that one. Like I said, the Invasion system does need changing, but nothing that will make it too micromanaged. You got to keep in mind that in larger galaxies, no one will want to go through a long and tedious invasion every time they go to conquer a planet. Nobody likes too much Micro Management. Also, you have to think of the effect on the AI that a new system would have. How difficult would it be (for the devs sake) to change the AI to effectively use and defen
What do you mean its not included in GC2 ?? Have you never researched planetary invasion ? Well what do you think I mean? Correct me if Im wrong, but as far as I know the planetary invasion system hasnt been changed at all (or at least significantly) in GC2. I wasnt talking about the tech you can research in the game. Im talking about the way i
Whoa... yall are lookin into this thing a little too deep.
All I can really say is.... Wow...... *takes a full 3 minutes for brain to register how god-like GC2 is* I mean... its just so amazing. This game deserves waaaay more press than it has. It should be on the front cover of the February issue of GI instead of that MoH crap. Seriously, if GC2 doesnt get game of the year for 2006, I will be genuinly upset. Great work Stardock! You guys got a lot of respect from me. Heres to hoping that my computer can play this game
I see. So now, for an example, I can tell if the Torians are supplying ships to the Arceans, who I am at war with.... and then know who to go after next (or just bribe a Civ Im friends with to attack the Torians). Wow... sweet. Thanks for the answer!
I hear ya Ashbery. Just the Terror Star alone would get my cash into Brad's pocket quicker than you can say antidisestablishmentarianism, but Fleet Heroes too? Damn.. that sounds cool. Though, I do wonder how it would work... any one know?
I was just thinking about something from GC1 and was wondering if it was still present in GC2, since it relates to the new Ship Design feature. In GC1, when you traded ships, the ships graphics change to that of the AI that is recieving them. So my question is: In GC2, does the ship design/style change to the AI's like GC1 when they are traded, or do the ships remain unchanged, but with the new Civ's color?
Why not have land battles like risk? Youv'e already got the map with all the squares on it. The "military screen" would show you how many troops in each square. YOu could attack from these squares or defend from them. Know how you talk so much about sharing Solar systems? This way you could share PLANETS. I dont know about sharing planets with
I dont know Botf. And yes, that does make sense. Also, I dont know if this is already in or not, but actions that are opposite to your allignment should have a negative effect on your planets' approval rating, and actions that are closer to your allignment should improve it.
Blizzard... just simmer down. Accept the fact that you will have to wait untill an update or expansion to see a Terror Star in GC2, and get over it. You will probably be even more thankful after it is put back into the game because by then they would have much more time and resources to put into the feature that would make way better than the Terror Stars in GC1
Exactly. I like that idea a lot. It makes sense logically, and wouldnt unnessicarily complicate things
I can understand if it wasnt included in the intial release. I mean look at how much work these guys are putting into this game. Im so excited about all the new features and the new and much improved AI, I really cant complain that there isnt a Terror Star. I mean if you think about it, it is probably for the best. If they had tried to include it for the release, then that would have been a large challeng. It would have taken more time and resources away from the other great features and probabl
Yea the color coding of units doesnt really appeal to me either. But the idea of having the engines glow to represent if it has turns or not is a very logical and convienent way, in my opion at least. I'd vote for that choice if this were a vote . . . .
I also have a question that I was originally going to make a seperate thread for but I figured that it might as well go here. Will there be a downloadable demo for GalCiv2 like there was for GalCiv1?
Oh, that brings a question to mind. What are the specifications and requirements needed to run GC2 on your computer? Sorry If it has been stated before, but I havent seen it anywhere yet.
I would also like to read some of your more recent tests. And I also agree that my ideal difficulty level is being able to win 50-70% of the time. To go up against the AI and have it be a genuine challange, without the AI having any unfair advantages (ie; heres free money, this is where all the resources are, ect.) is really a fun experience. To be beaten by an AI that is playing on the same terms as yourself (excluding their ability to calculate their economy in an instant) is truly a lesson yo
Yea I dont really like how the descriptions are so brief and contradictive in some areas. Its certainly tolerable since you guys are on a limited schedual and budget, but it'd certainly be smart to consider this for future updates. It really adds to the depth and realism of the game but without making it too complex to understand (hopefully ).
wow that was very... complex. You really sound like you know what you're talking about. Maybe Brad really should take some of your suggestions into consideration.
I think I remember Brad saying that Alliances will be changed so that it is only a defence package (ie; You attack race A that is allied with race B, race B is now in the war to defend race A). So if an allied race attacks you, their ally isnt dragged into the war from the start. I dont know if this will be changed for the release or if it will be and update later on.
Wait, so every planet you own you will need to put farms on so that the planet can hold more than 3000 people? There isnt any food sharing amoung your planets? Like say you make one single planet your "breadbasket" kind of planet putting tons of farms so that it produces a mass amount of food and then your other planets that do not have farms would recieve its food needs from that planet. Or do you have to make a couple of farms on every planet?
I think some sorta ship addition should be available so that we could add some modules that will allow us to upgrade Colony ships and transports to hold more civilians/troops.
Proud Canadian, I pretty much agree with everything you suggestion except what you suggested about being able to give support to different political parties and changing your political party during the game. I think that you should stay with the same political party the whole game, and if you lose power than you lose your bonuses and negatives (ex. War Party +ship hp -diplomacy) and you gain the bonus's and negatives of the superior party. Also, your actions should definately have a lot
and perhaps the invasions could take a few turns to be complete? It would make more sense. I mean in GC1 you could wipe out billions and billions of people in just the turn of a month. And keep in mind that was when the entire population of a planet would literally fight to the death (something I hope they fixed this time around). And now with 1 turn being 1 week, I think it would just make more sense for an invasion of an entire world to take a little longer, dont y
