Nice read. Am i the only one who thinks the new green turn button looks way out of place? I'm all for having a change in the turn button colour, but green clashes badly with the grey interface. In civ4 the green turn colour suited the bright coloufull interface. Nitpicking maybe.

I like playing on a large galaxy size with all races but don't have it set to abundant. With all those planets it makes money an irelavent gameplay factor in the mid game and onwards, because you have so much cash.

Each to their own. I tried the mods,it does make the game better, but it's still slow and boring.

Oh! I have noticed the A.I building the capitals in planets with no logic, when i invaded their worlds in beta5.It seemed the A.I placed them random and didn't utilize the power they give.

Looking at the planet screenshot, the planet is going to build a manu capital on a world with only one factory. There seems to be no logic by the A.I on where these powerfull capitals are built. The A.I should wait untill the planet is developed to a degree and then use a tech capital on a planet with loads of research labs, etc. At the moment the capitals seem random placed. Nice story BTW.

The A.I has been improved to another level since beta5 according to the designer. The A.I in the last beta5 was pants in the military strategy side. I am curious if the A.I has a separate code for attacking or defending trade networks.I don't recall any of the A.I journals mentioning it. There was another exploit of destroying an enemy resource bass, putting a fighter on guard by the resource and then waiting for another expensive constructor to come and then take it out, wast

The games you mention are military games that focus on tactical battles. That will most likely have lame duck A.I like the rest(RTW,etc) and very little depth in other parts of the game.Aka diplomacy, economy, planets, tech, culture. The only 4X game that has some of my interest (apart from GC2) is SpaceEmpires5. Galciv is a true 4X game that will have equal focus in all parts of the game(like civ4)and will still be played in 5 years, or untill GC3.

You are taking about small army units or barbarian tribes, not whole civs/races.There are still 60+ million Germans,100+ mill Japs,Native Americans, etc.I repeat, no race fought to anywhere near the last man. The Romans(and others) just slaughtered for political reasons on rare occasions. The people never fought to the last man either(Carthage). There is an argument that the Yor could maybe fight to the last, don't think any bio races could.

History has shown that humans certainly wouldn't fight to the last man, because it never happened, even with brutal leaders like Ghengis Khan or even the brutal invasion by the Japanese in WW2, where terrible atrocities where commited. The people would never fight to the last person, not even close.People are generally gutless cowards without leadership or weapons, as you should know with life experience.. I think the system should be changed. There should be lower influence and morale on
