And the worst of the stupid game shows are always seen in the States. My personal favorite was one where they put a bunch of women in a house, Big Brother style, but the contest was to see which one could cry the most. They had to collect their tears in bottles. They started by watching sad movies, b

I will admit to requiring the hint. As I said, I haven't read the books in nearly 2 years. I knew it was connected to 42 somehow, but I didn't make the connection to binary until I read the hint and numerized the date. My backup idea was that October 10, 2010 was the date the dolphins left.
On an interesting side note, 101010 is ASCII code for asterisk, which is a search wildcard. Hence, if you are searching for *, you are searching for everything. Perhaps the world will not end, just some monumental discovery will be made.
101010=Binary for 42=The answer to the ultimate question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. YES! I'm such a nerd.
Binary? I place DA on the highest pedestal there is, but I'm so far removed from reading THGTTG that I can't remember why October 10 is significant. On the upside, you've inspired me to go read the books and revisit the man responsible for making me want to be a writer.
It's in the recent articles for me.
I hope to eventually spend some time in Japan. Sushi, game shows, vending machines for items that have no business being in a vending machine...and now cherry blossoms I, too, have noticed a pronounced inconsistency in where and how posted articles show up on the forums and "recent articles" list.
1) People know that as long as its not country, I listen to it. 2) Set standards for yourself that are higher than everybody else's. 3) The question that my World History teacher asked me on the first day of my freshman year in high school: Justify your existence in the universe. You can tell a lot about a person, not only based on how they answer, but on whether or not they are quick enough to answer at all.
I suppose in a zone type system, with lots of support around him, Archuleta might not be a defensive liability, but he's not someone I'd want to depend on. I don't think the Bears are depending on him. Mike Brown is still the guy, but as I said, he is injury prone. Danieal Manning and Chris Harris are
If I remember correctly, Adam Archuleta's talent with the Rams was as a safety who hit. His strength was never in coverage, a fact which Daniel Snyder should have realized before signing him. The Redskins needed a safety to play straight coverage, particularly given Joe Gibbs' system. The team (read: Snyder, with a supporting nod to Gibbs, though I don't know how much influence he really has) should have known Archuleta was not a fit for them. <BR
From the cabin, a passenger was heard to exclaim, "Wow! It just missed the highway!" And so I present Exhibit A, that it is still far too easy for the far too stupid to board aircraft.
I think the main question that should be asked with our program is, "If students of minority groups are not up to the same level of education as majority students, should the level of difficulty in the Honors program be lowered to allow for more diversity? The question should be extended further: If s
Ah, so then is 'equal opportunity' a myth? Some children are disadvantaged because their parents don't read to them, don't speak good English and don't encourage them to take advanced classes. But these children should be held to the same standard as children who have had more opportunities? Equal opp
I was wondering if the problems were in the test themselves. The problems are the tests themselves. ACT or SAT, the only thing they really test is a student's ability to do well on one test on a given day. That is why admission processes also include overall GPA, writing, and usually an inter
Back in the day, I did the calculations, and I realized I could live on a loaf of bread and a pack of lunch meat per week. I didn't eat breakfast, two for a dollar hot dogs on campus for lunch, and a sandwich for dinner. Free added bonus: you couldn't gain the freshman fifteen, or any amount, on that diet if you tried.
Equality of opportunity does not guarantee equality of outcome. Exactly. Minorities are on the back foot from the start. So the solution is
I'm a PCS (poor college student)-- Sometimes all I can afford is ramen. So am I, and I feel your pain, but I decided long ago I'd rather starve.
Every girl I know has, at some point, maimed herself with a curling iron. I myself did the car door thing today, right after parking and stepping out onto a busy street. I then leaned on the car and crossed my arms and, while trying to extract myself, invented a new expression which I call "please-God-end-the-pain-or-kill-me-now" casual. I think some of the passing females were impressed. As far as the second degree burns go, that's what you
I think diversity is a good thing and if you want to encourage it then you probably can't hold everyone to the same standard because we are all different. Diversity is a good thing, but when it comes to something like this, everyone must be held to the same standard. Certainly we are all different, th
you wear your badge of shame and dishonor with a gleefulness that exceeds even that of a two year old having its first clown party. I don't want to get in the middle of this whole brawl y'all have going, and I disagree with your analysis of Gideon, as well as with your posts that seem to have very l
If it makes you feel any better, you did a great bit of writing about the incident. Very much like I would have done it. And I'm awesome. Don't let the setbacks get you down, and get well soon.
I spent six hours in a call center negotiating hotel rooms for people who couldn't get flights out of whatever airport you can name due to the weather on the east coast! My mind numbed to such an extent that I completely forgot it was St. Patrick's Day until I got home at 1am and read a Yahoo! thing about how St. Patrick's Day is inexplicably popular in Japan. My question is this: Do I win the boring game since, technically, I drifted (menta
NO! Is the lack of diversity at the higher levels of education a problem? Definitely. But it is not a problem that can be fixed from the top down. There is no benefit to be had from pushing minority students into programs they are not ready for, purely for the sake of diversity. Similarly, it is illogical, not to mention insulting, to suggest that standards be lowered so that more minorities qualify for certain programs of study.
I couldn't fall asleep for one night a few weeks ago, and it made me want to kill something. I can only imagine how you feel.
As someone who has always been a "relationship" guy, I feel ya. Relationships are complicated, but sex without any emotional connection just feels worthless, probably because it is. At this point in my young career, I still feel the benefits outweigh the pitfalls, and I've been lucky enough to have found women who keep my faith alive, all the while maintaining me sufficiently laid. To answer your question, though, 3 months in about another wee
