I subscribe because I like sharing with others, I want to learn to become a skinner, the friends you meet here are very helpful,(as I have learned recently by having a few people who have been here since day one, offer me help.) I think WC and Stardock rock! There are a lot of very nice and very talented people here. All of whom seem to have a common goal, to help the skinning community! I have a lot to learn, and I am sure this is the place to learn and give back.
You do make some very beautiful themes.
Awww Shux! Thank you, you are too kind, I have all kinds of help.
Wow! I am in the process of writing a tutorial for the wiki on changing the rez for that very theme! It isn't complete enough for the wiki but I could upload the word doc to a file sharing site..... P.S.: I'm on 1024 so I think it should work for you.
Wow. My theme is getting some attention! I am honored.
ok if the res you are using is larger than the one in the DX theme you will need to center the top bar.open DX builder and move the images and all related objects to the right ( i sugest starting with the main bar part or background of the bar.). to do this in builder you would go in to each objects properties/ then the summary tab/ then change the very first coordinates (typically shown as left) to where you would want the object. then hit apply and the object will move to the right. rem
I just uploaded a version at 1280x768.
How well can the images scale if you script them to resize based on workarea?
I know absolutely nothing about scripts. ( Didn't know you were working with a complete idiot, huh? )
By including a few additional lines of code
I hate to sound stupid, but I do not know what that means...lol. I may take you up on your offer to help with resolution independency.
I owe thanx to vStyler, I.R. Brainiac, Fairyy, SKOriginals, JJYing, messiah1, Zubaz, Bilbo, Z71, Night Train, Treetog, rast2005, amongst others....I wish to thank you all for help and understanding ( and for putting up with me as I try to be more like you).
I apologize if I left anyone out, I get a lot of help from a lot of real skinners.
Guess the real question is do you have time & desire to it?
Time? Occaisionally. Desire? I feel that the best thing I like about sharing is positive feedback. Everyone likes a pat on the back. I am learning and hope, someday, to be a skinner. In the meantime, naturally I make themes to fit my res. I realize it's not a common size. It really don't take much effort to tweak it to a common size, I may just do some 1280's and 1024's just to see how it affects my downloads. I
If you need a cursor...then try mellow yellow.
I use bodywork cursor for the magic suite, looks cool!
I have a question for all of you. Since I don't know how to make a resolution independent theme, should I continue making them at my res., expecting others to tweak to suit their own systems (as I must do when using themes made by others), or should I make them at a common size? Just a question. Please feel free to give me your input. Thanx, Jim.
I also like how you can simply right-click on the task bar and click task manager to open it.
This is true in XP.
I am running an XP/Vista Ultimate dual boot system. My wife's laptop came with Vista Basic, my sister's PC has Vista. We all find the internet navigation to be extremely slow on Vista. Also, extracting zips is very slow. As of now, I only use Vista as a toy. All work is done on XP. I do LOVE the dreams for Vista Ultimate! But, I only use Vista for play and learning the Vista system. I feel that vista is not ready for the common user. I have had PC Tech training and I just don't like a system tha
this is a Suite just beggin' for a Screenie !!
Beggin' for a DX Theme!!! LOL
I say go spend time with the young'uns Brad. I lost my kids at less than 1 year old and there's not a day that passes that I don't regret not having spent more time with them.
gots to spend time with the kids..but i regret renewing my subscription
I am, as Mike at Stardock Support knows all too well, very impatient about most things...lol. This includes the upcoming Magic Suite. But I would have renewed later anyway, why not do so sooner to get the freebie? How could anyone regret renewing? I don't own a computer, I own a Stardock Box! ( For lack of a better title...suggestions welcome...lol. ) I seriously don't know what I'd do without my Sta
Awesome work Guys!! Hope to follow in your footsteps!
P.S. Thanx for the quick response. If you think these are too wide, I am working on a few triple monitor themes for someone, We probably won't upload tho.
OR make your bar to auto expand height or width to 100% instead of in Pixel Cool! Not sure how that's done, but wouldnt it leave the buttons in the wrong places and the like? I'm a dummy and don't quite understand...lol.
Thanx, Zubaz. I guess I get a little impatient at times. I'll bet you guys think I'm a real a** I don't mean to be.
Where are the moderators? Seems it takes forever to get a skin thru. Or am I being impatient again? If so, please forgive. Just wanna see my skins moderated on.
I am currently running Azenis windowblinds by JJ Ying. Along with the Arilene V2 icon package by Quentin. And an Azenis2 logon also by JJ Ying. And the Marudachi wall by homeryulo. And lastly, my new Azenis 1440 Interface DX Theme (as a widget) I am waiting to hear from Mr. Ying for permission to upload it. Screenshot at http://puterdudejim.wincustomize.com/ Awesome stuff, Stardock community!! <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/BigSmile.gif" border=0
It didn't say ...tone down.....it said....obscure the wallpaper some. Thats because, like messiah1 said, so the wallpaper can't be ripped from the screenshot. I am sorry, it never occured to me that someone might rip the wallpaper. <img src="http:/
Advice taken. I also would mention that future uploads will be 1440x900. I no longer use two monitors. Thanks for the input. I guess I just get a little impatient at times. Sorry. I am known as being a little obsessive/compulsive...ask my wife...lol.
Hello all! Stardock is just way too persnickety about things, so you can find my stuff at deviant art, or skinning.net. The screenshot of my desktop (On my personal site http://puterdudejim.wincustomize.com/) was turned down saying that I needed to tone down my wall. I see that as censorship. I see nothing wrong with my wall. It goes well with the wba and my widget. They have been terribly slow about moderating any of my themes, i feel they are picking on me for some reason. Anyway, I will proba
