I've been asking about a SCII-style "instruction"/lore book for a while. Also, good to "see" you again. I finished founder registration yesterday, not sure if I'm too far behind the power curve to get in. Have been slammed at work, haven't had time to log on for gaming. Good luck & have fun!

Frogboy: Sounds great. Looking forward to what Mr. Zoboki is willing to say/let slip unintentionally. :-D I love the idea of player-generated content. The ability to share original stories would be a fantastic addition; but I have to ask what your vision of the mechanic for sharing is. Are you suggesting a system akin to the "Nasty Winter Weather, Inc." arcade, "Big Fruit Company" app store, or "Boiled Water" streaming service?

Thank you again for the update sir; much appreciated. Are there any plans for passive NPC alien races? Species that are not spacefaring and/or sentient, but could play a role to some degree with a little "help" from the player? Worst case scenario would be a creature akin to the xenomorph critters from the "Alien(s)" franchise; while they may not be pleasant for humans to deal with, a synthetic and/or mineral based species may find them interesting and/or lovabl

Frogboy, thank you for the update. However, just because you're rebooting the franchise, doesn't mean that certain things can't be common to both continuity, right? I mean, some things just don't change: a nuclear missile is a nuclear missile, a spork is a spork, a soccer ball is a soccer ball. It doesn't matter which game you're playing, some things just "are". So...why not make mention of Frungy in some background item? A

Thank you for the status update! Glad to see the IP getting the respect it deserves. Of course, gangbuster sales would be nice, maybe a nice two-or-three film movie deal with tie-in television series, an interactive toy line with little ships based on classic & upcoming Star Control races, the sort of toys you can place on some sort of docking mechanism (call it the star base!); where the toys on the dock are represented in-game for all sorts of hyper-melee adventures...

I don't know if this constitutes a "race", but I swear to everything holy, unholy, and in-between; if we see that stupid League Ethics Complaint Management System/Hint Generator computer from SC3, I will be very, very *Frumple*!

I think SC3's idea of an area-spanning coalition of very different species was an inspired idea. Sure, the Hegemonic Crux was built on lies and corruption, but when you get down to brass tacks, the only races in SC2 that were completely on board with joining the New Alliance Of Free Stars without any sort of pre-membership errand were the Orz and the Pkunk. Everybody else was fine with the player saving their skin from the Ur-Quan..."provided you take care of a little problem, know what I

Frogboy, thank you for the update, and the engagement here in the forums. I don't have the chops to speak for the entire community, but I appreciate it. Very happy to see the bona-fides for the team. Big Huge Games worked on one of the best (and criminally under-exposed) RPG's of the last generation, Kingdoms Of Amalur. Firaxis kicked arse and took names with the XCOM reboot. Stardock, well, "this work we hold to be self-evident." Ok, I pa

Hello all! We are all excited about the return of the Star Control franchise, that goes without saying. However, these days it seems like there are inevitable cross-media tie-ins as either part of the build-up to release, or expand the post-release universe. Personally, I think this is a great idea; and have a few ideas along these lines. Granted, a few are a bit far-fetched, but would be fantastic to see brought to fruition. Book(s): The sole Sta

I wasn't aware 6014 was finished; from the site, it looked like it was still a work in progress. There hasn't been an update in a while, and I was hoping they didn't drop it once the new game was announced. I was, and am, looking forward to playing it.

Hello all. Quick question: With Stardock now having ownership of the IP, has anyone formally contacted the Project 6014 guys? They were doing what looked like a nice user-mod of SCII. They've put in a lot of time & effort, so it would be sort of a shame to have it go to waste. Any formal invitation to the new SC community?

I agree with you that story is at the core of an excellent adventure/RPG game. I would like to see player decisions have a definitive impact on the game. I'm not talking about getting one of three different flavors of ending scene, or the cheap and easy "Pick item 1 to receive power/ability/object "A", Pick item 2 to..." version of choice. I mean choices that have emotional as well as gameplay consequences. For example: I'm on my way across hyperspace to

Awkbird; I like it. That looks like a fantastic way to create a custom race/class; very cool idea. With the "alternate timeline" concept, why not go for the easiest available option, the Orz. Since SCII established that the Orz are from "somewhere else", notably "below". The species was discovered in the original timeline by Androsynth research into inter dimensional fatigue; perhaps THAT was the cause of the "alternate timeline". The release of the Orz into the

Having professional voice actors would be great. Also, in the spirit of Star Control, try and have a little fun with it. If budget were no issue, we could assemble a dream cast: Have Keith David voice a militaristic species, with a few humorous references to his work on Halo & Mass Effect. Ellen McLain voice a mechanical species with a love of testing...and "cake". Aside from their legendary individual work, the recent commercials featuring James Earl Jones & Malcolm McDowell are hila

I don't think I was trying to force anything; just a slightly humorous request for information. Your response is sort of troubling though. I think I'm a "serious gamer." I started gaming on computers with games by Interplay, Accolade, Origin, Westwood Studios, Firaxis, and MicroProse, when they were released; long before titles like Sim City, Wasteland, Ultima, and X-COM became "classics." At the time, its what was new. I was present and accounted for when Nintendo had their W

I was 5". Had to go look in the box. Saw the beat up Hyperspace Map & Professor Zorg's "Wheel Of Copy Protection;" brought back memories...mostly of frustration. :-D The system was an old hand-built DOS PC. We made weekend trips as a family to Radio Shack, Egghead, and CompUSA for parts and electronic goodies.

Instead of paying $100 for a "Whamadyne Edition" plastic trinket and art book? Sounds great to me! I'd gladly pay up front and contribute towards a quality product, rather than spend years with unrealistic expectations, fueled by "previews" who's pre-release praise is directly proportional to the amount of ad revenue brought in by said review site. That sort of letdown results in visceral, Cartman-like reactions of "screw you guys, I'm going home; and you're not getting any of

Hello all! My name is Adam; and I've been a huge fan of Star Control since the first game graced the contours of my 8.5" floppy drive. I've played all three existing games, and like many others, find SC2 to be an almost perfectly balanced and scripted game. Hell, it was good enough that the folks at "Evil Acquisitions" ripped off as much as they could, and created a great console experience. Played the games, read the (horrible) novel, and have watched the awesome effort of the guys a

I recently switched from Windows based PC to a Mac. I like the OSX UI, and its more powerful than my old PC, and all of the games I am currently playing support Mac, so I'm a "happy camper" at the moment. Then I thought about Star Control. Please, please, please tell me that the good people of Stardock are working on a Mac build. A remastered SC1 & SC2 for OSX would be great; but please, let me enjoy the new version on my new computer. For years...ok, decades really, I

I think we're getting into a bit of a hangup here, and if he'd be so kind, perhaps Frogboy can mitigate some of the confusion. From previous entries, we're getting a game in the SC universe, but split from the main continuity at some unspecified point along the timeline. Check. However, its also been mentioned that we're getting new races, not classic SC races. Personal opinion aside, can we get a fact check, or some kind of clarification on that? I fully support expan

If the Orz are brought back, could we perhaps "find" an Androsynth remnant; kind of a Fwiffo one-off? The dialogue options would be interesting; and given the emphasis on player choice these days, having to choose between the remnants of the Androsynth or the Orz as to which race joins the player "team", and which becomes hostile and/or extinct, would be a great plot twist. I also want to see the Androsynth reaction when the player shows up at the last Androsynth settle

Good evening all! In SCII, customization of the Precursor ship was a major factor in the success, or failure, of the player. It is possible to win the game without utilizing any of the Melnorme ship upgrades; but it does add a degree of difficulty. The Mass Effect series did a wonderful job lifting ideas directly from SCII (ship customization, evil galaxy-threatening giant squid, blue space babe love interest, floating fish/jellyfish who's speech doesn't
