Today comes Part 2 of my list to vote Howard out. Today, the portfolios of Aborigines and Foreign Affairs. So today we’re dealing with Amanda Vanstone and Alexander Downer as well as little Johnny. Aborigines 18a. Abolished ATSIC 18b. Replaced ATSIC with an unelected, unrepresentative board of “dignified” (read “wear suits and act like whi

After having watched Andrew Bartlett, leader of the Democrats speak at the Press Club, I am left worried. I used to support the Dems, until my faith in them was shattered by their rubberstamping of the GST. Since then I must say that they seem to have been weak. Bartlett is a charisma blackhole it must be said. But is this important? Can I really let my vote
Thanks Phoenix. Well Toblerone, you know what FishHead says about us left wingers: nothing but pessimistic optimists.
"That's usually because in my experience liberal positions aren't based on science but rather warm fuzzy emotions." How utterly ridiculous Draginol. The extreme greens as they are called in Australia..where do you think that environmental movement stems from? The answer is Science! Your science teacher may have taught you about the cycles of nature and the effects of pollution on human health, causing problems such as melanomas and asthma. I
Today starts Part 1 of a series I’ll be running this week. A friend recently asked me to name one BAD thing John Howard’s Liberal Party had done. I told her I didn’t know where to start and didn’t have time to get into it then. I’ve racked my brains and come up with one thing. Maybe two. Please feel free to add to it. I haven’t kept a running list over the past decade
Q: What’s this about the new Medicare safety net? A: It’s one of the ways we’re weakening Medicare. While Medicare has always covered you in public hospitals, the new Safety Net won’t deliver anything to 95% of Australians and the majority of the funds for it will be spent on bureaucratic red tape. This means the price of health care will go up.<B
I have just been sent a set of policy statements from the Liberal Party. Because this election is about trust, I was just wondering which of these policies are core promises and which are the promises they don’t intend to keep?
"Children must not be put in jail without just cause" - Malcolm Fraser One of the greatest ironies of the current Government came during budget week. We all remember Treasurer Costello telling us to go forth and multiply, claiming that our ageing population desperately needed young people to boost the economy. We needed workers to support the retirees. Of course,
Well you know I disagree with your assessment of the Liberal party of course. I too am a white middle class male, but I guess I give a toss about people other than myself and I know what a terrible thing Howard is doing to people who aren't myself (although these days he has started to threaten my own way of life because I am dependant on a woman on a disability pension and the economy aint lookin as rosy for her as Howard claims it is). Ah, now you didn't tell me you were up against a Greens party. Sorry but I have to support them in the debate. But I look forward to hearing the results of the debate Gideon. An excellent idea to dry and get the media focussed on minor parties I think.

Remember you heard it here first! Champagne Socialist: Unofficial ALP gag-writer. And yet they've got themselves in hot water because they didn't use my original script. Still, I think the hullabaloo is ridiculous. I mean is Crazy Clark's Crazy Clint's and every used car salesman going to sue as well as Crazy John (moile phones). You'd think the Coalition would know a joke when they saw one. After all, it takes one to know one.
My good friend Rachel Williams wrote this to editors of broadsheet papers the other day and as she doesn't have a blog, I thought I'd post it here. John Howard is certainly spending up big for the election. And I know these promises are genuine. I know this from past experience. John Howard said he would protect Australia's borders and not let in any of those
Last week I sent that skit to the ALP. Anyone heard the ALP's latest radio ad?
Thanks guys. Oh no, I didn't realise Chaser had actually started. I've been waiting and waiting but kept seeing "coming soon". Oh well, the bastards obviously saw my blog and decided to rip it off. You can't trust the ABC!
Picture Max Gillies dressed as John Howard, running around a used car caryard. In fact this is much funnier if you read it aloud in a hysterical John Howard voice... Hi! I’m Craaaazy John from Craaaazy John’s Used Liberal Party Policies and down here in Canberra I’ve gone absolutely bonkers. Take a look at GP bulk-billing. It was at EIGHTY PERCENT
I didn't expect to based on your start, but I agree with you that it is unrealistic to expect everyone to adapt to the changing social norm. My personal view is that couple should amalgamate their names to create a new whole, which is entirely representative of what happens with marriage. Your couple may for instance take on the rather silly sounding "Smandrews" or "Smithews" or "Andrith". Silly as they sound, most last names do until you get used to t
Madonna King launched a tyrade against Leading feminist Germaine Greer last week which can be found at: http://www.thecouriermail.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,10756473%255E27197,00.html In reply I say: Once, just once, it would be nice to read an article about Germaine Greer that actually bothers to refute her arguments. Instead we get the sam
It's funny but you Americans actually have some pretty good political satirists. I think I may change my opinion of US humour. NJot saying I thought it was bad, but we always get the impression over here that you don't do satire or irony.
"It surprises me that, given that it has always been considered rude and crass to make fun of dumb people (intellectually challenged for you PC folks), this behaviour has become so prevalent on the left." It's okay to make fun of them when they become the most powerful men in the world. We generally expect our world leaders to be intelligent because it is supposed to be a necessary qualification for the job. It's like having an engineer with n
"Excuse me maam, but the French are telling NO ONE how to live!" Ok I'm a bloke for a start, and telling someone how to live between the hours of 8 and 4 is telling someone how to live in my book. "And you don't know that it's NOT detrimental to the other students now do you?" Can you tell me one way in which it could possibly be detrimental to another student? Nudists generally cope with the fact that the rest of us wear cl
Quite frankly, I don't care who you elect. Elect Arnie if you want. Just as long as it ain't Bush. I believe that my own country would not have gone to war in Iraq if it weren't for Bush's idea. And had we not gone to war on Iraq, a recent bomb attack might have been prevented and Al-Qaeda might not have promised to bathe Australia in blood. No matter how bad Kerry may be, he will have the entire Democrat team behind him. He cannot screw the
As a school teacher I would have no problem with a student covering their face if that was their religious conviction. "you are just going to segregate your Islamic population" Yeah cos banning the scarf has really decreased the segregation problem hasn't it!? Everyone has suddenly become very tolerant of Moslems now that you can't see them. The only way for people to overcome their prejudices is for them to be exposed to altern
Well who's saying one side of politics is wrong because I say so now? As one letter to the editor pointed out it only takes a matter of seconds to say "It appears that the photographs of children being thrown overboard were fabricated Mr Prime Minister.". I've said before I'm not really interested in Scrafton's account. I didn't believe Howard in the first place, and nor do I think this is the main issue in the children overboard affair.
