I find that making sure the faction leader isn't in the city prior to taking it from an ex-communicated faction is the surest way to keep them from being reconciled. As the excommunication process is between the pope and the faction leader, any time either is killed the excommunication ends. I also make sure to bring enough siege weapons with me so I don't have to chance being told off by the pope in the middle of a siege. <br
Mystikmind
This morning i thought my browser was playing up, then i saw this post! hehehehe
Quoting Mystikmind, reply 3 that's why we will never know for certain unless someone goes and takes a closer look. Raises hand! Anyone a rocket scientist? [e digicons]:)[/e]
To that end.... Lets hope reali
slight distortions in the fog of war blackness to represent such things would not go astray. However, the evidence we use now for detecting black holes does not guarantee its a black hole, it only means there is an 'effect' which 'may' be a black hole because we lack knowledge of what else may do that.... it could be any kind of unfathomable natural phenomenon we have no clue about, hell it could be a giant alien device, highly unlikely, but not impossib
Turn 412? wow! There are a few tricky things i did not know for a long time playing this game which greatly improved my game if you don't happen to know already, here they are; 1) Trade goods stack 2) switch your technology research to something very expensive before claiming any yellow diamond anomaly, then switch back after claiming it. 3) put your shipyard projects - hyperion shrinker especially on a level 3 military resourc
I don't really care about the UP, so therefore i always see it in my games. However i can never get much in the way of interesting galactic events and mega events, even set on abundant. That's my problem with this game right now. I bought the new mega events DLC - set on abundant or frequent or whatever is the highest setting, and i am on turn 250 in a gigantic map, i have gotten exactly SQUAT this whole time, gave up playing. (I m
As far as sentry is concerned.... honestly, its almost as if neutral ships actively seek out your units on sentry just to annoy the player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is no reason for this crap, its an obvious thing, even a 20 year old game like Alpha Centauri can manage to understand having an option to only activate sentry units when they spot enemy, not neutral. No excuse.
It is because it is a turn based game, i would assume? So they need to give time for everyone to finish up their turns? I will tell you, its not the worst i have seen in a game..... i like to play a game called Medieval 2 Total war..... If you are a Catholic nation, at war with another Catholic nation (AI) Then you are subject to decrees of peace from the Pope. (You actually can refuse but its not good for various reasons i wont go into).
1) Laptops are notorious for poor ventilation.... especially if you sit it on a soft surface like carpet or bedding! 2) Computers will only run at their maximum speed they are designed to run regardless if software is a much heavier load beyond its capability... it will simply force the software to run crapfully with low framerate. 3) Overclocking can change the above rule number 2.... and that can certainly 'fry' stuff.... that's why overclockers are always raving
Quoting Mystikmind, reply 3 Yea, its half assed as it is.... you cannot easily find ships with some movement left but at the same token you cannot end turn if there are any ships with full movement left - which is something i would love to be able to do!
Agree with you on the above with the fact that city building is a little better than colony building. They even made things worse as far as colony building in three by over all lowering the average class of planets. I asked for something like civilization where you just build all the buildings instead, so you never run out. That would also solve any problem dealing with to much science, or manufacturing. This would either change th
Quoting Mystikmind, reply 1 Its because the game you load is never exactly the same game that you saved. Does this seem odd to anyone else? What a peculiar behavior for the game. It sounds like an AI glitch. If the AI is does
Its because the game you load is never exactly the same game that you saved. Its because the game you load is never exactly the same game that you saved. if you look closely you will find far more little changes than just diplomacy. The worst thing that ever happened to me because of a reload.... the Drengin were attacking me with mighty fleets - some other moron went to war with them and all their fleets turned and started off in that dir
There is a Logistic Anomoly, +5 bonus per anomoly. This adds up if you get lucky [e digicons]:)[/e]
Yea, no good.... but just imagine how much more fun this anomaly would be if it gave you a one off logistics ship component instead of a fleet wide bonus? Make it at least + 10 for that though!
Quoting Mystikmind, reply 13 i can live with the AI not exploring them. It can give the player a massive advantage, to the point it can be game breaking. Say the game generates 20 of these anomolies, the AI does not explore them. Player get them
Quoting Syrkres, reply 1 THey might have attacked a Faction which had the ideology where if they attack the homeworld every faction declares war on them. That must be it, nice find!
Quoting Mystikmind, reply 11 Also the new set of well defended anomalies (DLC), some of the rewards seem overpowered to me? So probably best not to have them. They are overpowered, but not how you think, the AI doesnt explore them, so its one sid
Why would anyone want to know they are at war? Its not at all important, no popup needed.
Your " 'incremental difficulty levels'" idea is a good one. But it seems that the problem is baked in. I still don't understand why they aren't attacking me early on, as they do to you guys. Any one else use a custom race? I've never played one of the canned races. Personally i would prefer it if Galciv3 was more about the ships, fleets and combat.... everything else just being about how to get the best fleets and having the infrastructure to support them. Diplomacy is fine so long as the AI remain arrogant enough to make it very enjoyable destroying them, that's all i require of diplomacy! lol
Thank you everyone for the replies. I think my question has been pretty much answered, I will wait further into the development "dlc" cycle before picking this one up. I'll stick to galciv2 for now since it is complete, and consider galciv3 when it is closer to completion. I don't care about playing new campaigns at all, I dont play these kinds of games for that and never played the galciv2 ones. I can't see m
Only the UP or random galactic events as far as i know? But also quite often the AI can force to be at peace with me..... I don't know how? As far as i know we are at war, then when one of my ships tried to attack all of a sudden out of nowhere i get a warning notice telling me i cannot break some peace treaty so soon?? And i'm like "what freaking peace treaty????? this is the first i heard of it???" Hahahahaha
One thing i have noticed is that defenses do not always seem to impact the outcome of combat as you would expect from looking at the raw statistics. Sometimes i encounter circumstances and i have to scratch my head and wonder why the hell i should not see a 'victory likely' pop up?? Why? WHY? Fuxxx me??? The moral of the story is that you cannot trust your strategy too much on defenses...... these days defenses are the last thing i
I am in this category. My rule of thumb is: if I live to turn 150, they are doomed by turn 250 at the latest. A lot of that is my play style that creates an accelerating come-from-behind triumph type of victory. Otherwise, I get mercilessly overwhelmed, often by multiple opponents. Some of that seems to be an unintended effect of high level bonuses. They seem to affect early game play more than later. What
