I would be interested in getting together with a laidback group. I have played some but I am looking to play more and I have also not ever played Sins online yet. I welcome the idea of a balanced fleet and not spamming, with some eye towards using the tools and creating strategy and awesome battles to remember. I am US Central time and can play from 7pm - 10pm during the week on specificed days or weekends.

Why in the world would they want to unbalance the game? Why would logically thinking developers waste their time desiging a game that is unbalanced. How could they have the ability to create a product with such potentional and then 'piss' it away with a lack of game mechanics design... simple, fact... they wouldn't.

Yarlen, It occured to me that you might not have included a campaign in the initial release for SoaSE because you planned to release in the future. Maybe it was never set into stone as a formal plan, but perhaps it was kicked around the conference/brain storming session as doable in the future. Perhaps, maybe when you release the new expansion... the one where you introduce the race/power that is after the vasari? Just a guess... - SofEnder

I have a gaming G11 Logitech keyboard and a laptop slim line keyboard. Sometimes I ust end up using the laptop slim keyboard to play games as the keys are closer together and more sensative.

I have tried to play using my Logitech Marble Mouse, which doesn't come with a 'scrolling wheel' and the button assignment I create for scrolling instead (auto scroll) does not seem to get recgonized in Sins. I admit, I have not spent a lot of time trying to troubleshoot but I thought I would add my voice to the mix out there. BUT, I do have a wireless MX Revolution Logitech mouse which works fine in the Trackballs place... I usually use the trackball when I am charging the MX mouse.
... well ... some Strategist (at SD or IC) decided that ICO would use the P2P system ...and according to another Genius ( The Monk ), what happens then, is that the host only synkronizes data that is effectively processed (« simulated ») by each of the other participants...consequently ... the slowest comp & the most laggy connection in the ICO game drags down the flow of the P2P experience for everybody ...but what do i know about that, anyway ? ...
So, if I play a frien
With enough gates, 10+, you can call in 500-700 pop worth in ships every 7 or so minutes. If you don't need the ships you can scuttle them for cash and resources. If your near fleet cap but have enough space to call in one more gates worth of troops, about 70 population, select all your gates and call them all in at the same time, this will put you to like -400 fleet cap, I'm sure its a bug that needs to be looked at. Vasari can get to 2300 fleet cap with research anyway and doing this can
These days people care more about the real people behind the gamesThat seems to be the trend these days. People aren't being ignored as much; everyone from Publishers to Writers to Coders and designers are getting in the spotlight. I think it is due in part to this information age we are in, with the internet and all. Even simple Modders for games like Crysis and the Elder Scrolls series are getting huge hype simply because people are seeing what they are doing and are recognizing them as
i lag on the intro movie if i try to skip it does any1 else hav this prop
Yes, on the movie I find that it skips when I click the mouse button to dismiss it. I am sure this is common, but my lag is maybe 1.5 secs or less... more of a skip in the audio and video. I have a fast system, dual-core 2 duo 3.0ghz and a 10K raptor, Nvidia 8800GTS 2.0 526mb, etc... I have seen this before in a few other games... anybody else confirm this issue?
However, I seem to suck against the AI. I'm having trouble winning battles as Advent versus TEC (in this specific case), creating a fleet that appears to me to counter the opposing fleet well, but in practice, is useless.
I am by no means a veteran player in this game, I will say that up front. I am in fact still nursing my game that has been set to 'slow' speed over the last week with a total of 3.75/hrs so far. Having said that, I have been watching the forums for gem
3) Fleets are not smart enough to separate when say the capital ship in the fleet decides to bomb the planet. In this situation, if my cap ships fleet has combat frigates/cruisers in it, they will simply sit in formation around the cap ship while the planet is bombed leaving logistics structures unthreatened. A much more sensible behavior would be for the fleet to split itself and allow the frigates/cruisers to attack the logistics structures while the capitals bombed the planet, or

Call for a comprehensive and graphical user/community Manual I see Wikis for some games but little do I see (while the 80 page manaual provided as a .pdf in my download is informative) a truely well designed and thoughtout community compiled manual with USEFUL charts, diagrams, etc... all presented with nice well executed graphics and the like. I truely see an excellent oppertunity to show our passion for the game by making a formatted .pdf t

Expansions...expansions. dunno... I just hear developer greed talking. half a year left until release and they can't add another building? Is this still our beloved Stardock, the same company that releases GalCivII 2.0? Of course it will be nice to have the game kept alive and expanded, but shouldn't you work on the actual game first and think about expansions later? I hear wha

See - I think there might be a fundamental problem here. Mind you that I will have a alias when I go multiplayer, and will be happy to bring that alias to your attention, when it is registered but let me just say this - more because it is really who I was, a personification of all things militaristic of humans - ... I found it 'fun' to read what takes but a 'hunt-n-peck' to do in about 1 minute, that has little of no impact on what will happen in multiplayer. The boasts are great, fun

I have not read extensively on this issue and instead opted to skim it over about 20 posts which I admit to an preface with. I agree, the rational way of implementing Capital Ships would be to research them, but then again, if I want to play with logic and rationality I will not be looking to a "game" for that. I am biased in the sense, that to me, "games of strategy" should have some of the time tested elements from boardgames. I think that a lot of turn based games have that to som

Also, I would encourage readers of this thread to play the demo to Defcon: Everyone Dies. It's a simple nuclear war sim, and probably has one of the highest body counts of any game out there. What a case of serendipity, I actually have that installed (demo) and thinking of purchasing it because it is such a cool niche game with a wonderful presen

Violence! That word is loaded with meanings that all, seemingly, worm there way in to the games we play, movies we watch, stories we tell each other, etc... WHY? Are we so undisciplined that we resort to a basic impulse to entertain ourselves through the suffering of others (imagined or not) or entertain that PART of us? I am a fully thinking intelligent human being, so I know all the social engineering arguments and biological arguments as to why? Thats not what I am asking.

Brad, Will you in the future be upgrading some of the graphics in GalCiv2 Dl & DA to take advantage of the DirectX10 features in Vista? I was reading info on Vista at the different game sites and CNet and was curious if you had any plans or if you are happy with where you are with GalCiv2 and include any new graphic features in GalCiv3 or some other incarnation? Thanks in Advance

After a long day at work playing IT man and engaging my left brain till the last little neurotransmitters were gone on that hemisphere, it was nice to relax and read this 'after action report' with the right side of my brain... I haven't played any games in many weeks but you sparked some hidden drive to play GalCiv2 DA (which I have the beta), so thank you Frogboy that was nice. I think Citizen Cactoblasta has a great point with

I took that JPGs of the techtree and made a high quality PDF of it for my own use. If you want I would send it to you mormegil and u can distribute it to the masses if that is some StarDock would be comfortable with? It is actually AT the original size of the poster since the dimensions turned out to be 27x18 inches in the PDF.
