Recycling XP logons for Vista

I'm afraid that I already know the answer to this, but is it possible to recycle existing XP logons for Vista by importing them into Logon Studio Vista?

No, not at this time, and my guess would be probably never. Too much difference in code. But you never know. Right now, all you can do in Logon Studio Vista is change the wallpaper. It's in early beta, so we'll have to see what they are able to do with it as it develops.

I used a tool called Resource Hacker in XP to hand-build login screens. So, can the same tool be used to extract the graphics from XP logon studio files to produce wallpaper for LogonStudio Vista? If not, is there another tool that can be used?

If you need the wallpaper from a .logonxp file, a Logon Studio logon, you can just get it out of the logon folder...C:\Program Files\Wincustomize\Logon Studio\"name of logon". Or if you don't want to install it, you can rename the logon.logonxp file to logon.zip and unzip it and pull the wall out of the folder.

If you have a .logonui.exe file, then yes, you need ResHacker to get it out.

Support for importing at least the backgrounds of both of these will be in a future build of LogonStudio Vista. It will probably not be possible to import much more, though we'll keep it in mind.
