Help editing VistaXP skin

I like kol's vistaxp skin, but the problem i have with it is the 'explorer' background is a grey colour, and i want white (i know there are similar other skins, but they're not as well designed as vistaxp imho).

this is what i mean:





there are two problems: 1. when i edit in skinstudio, i try to select the subskin "glass beta 2". it just selects "glass normal 2" instead, no matter how many times i try.

2. i tried making a small bitmap of white colour, and set it as "explorer background". saved. didn't work

can anybody please give me simple steps to doing this?

ok i tried setting it up in rightclick desktop, appearance. and it works, but when i click OK to confirm, the window freezes and i have to end it with task manager. this makes sure the settings aren't saved, so when i reboot its back grey

Set 'Miscellaneous>Colors<-->Window>Background-Window to 255,255,255
It is set to 244,244,244 as the skin comes by default.
