United Planets

What is the period between assemblies? 4 years?

What are the penalties for dropping out of UP?
I assume you cant trade with any one but what else? Can the AI drop out ? And is if yes can two non UP civs trade?

I think UP is cool but has much unfilled potential.

You should be able to propose your own laws once in a while. It doesnt make sense that even when you control more than 50% you have to rely on somebody else (why ?) to proposes stuff you can vote on.

You should also be able to take up old laws for a revote later on.

Before each vote you should have a round of diplomacy where you can trade stuff for votes. Either get paid to vote as they want or pay them to vote as you want. What is an interplanetary forum without diplomacy? :notsure:

4 yeare is correct.

Not sure about consequences of dropping out beyond what you mentioned, but I suspect there is a higher risk of being attacked.

I think the laws proposed at a meeting are randomly selected by the main code and even the AI's don't get to propose issues.

Revotes sounds like a good idea, but again I think this is a question of the random selection of issues.

You get a warning on the previous turn that a meeting will be held. Although I would lilke having the last meeting date displayed on the UP screen, you can do some trading for influence when you get the warning. Since this is still a Beta (build 3A of ?) there may be more coming. And there may still be time for some of your suggestions to be implemented before release in February. If not then, perhaps in a followup release.

Yes yes yes, more power to the UP ! I'm sure the number of events is sheduled to grow, but I'd really like the diplomatic phase of the game to be expanded. As it is now, the UP is a sugar icing, nice but not vital. Most of the diplomacy is done on a bilateral level, with treaties only influencing people taking an active part in them. A more multilateral diplomacy would really be a plus.

This may be a coincedence... but do your allies vote with you in the UP? I was in bad relations with everyone except the Yor... and every UP that came up they voted the same as me! That would be cool if this wasn't a coincedence... if you and your allies could form a voting bloc and always get your way!

No, they don't. That's what the trading of influence is supposed to represent. Deals to get more votes going your way.
