Minor Race use of Gifted Ships

On several occasions I have wanted to support minors that were on my borders. They were threaten with be overrun by one or more of the majors. I first built ships to give them and once produced I gifted them with the ships. They just sat there were in the same location. Next I built ships and moved the next to their colonies and then gifted them. They just sat there and were either destroyed in place and never moved. I assumed this was just that the minor AI have not been fully developed yet. I have seen several great posts from Frogboy showing the great work in progress for the majors. I was wondering what was happening with the minors?

I've seen the same thing, I just sold 4 obsolete ships to a minor race and they haven't moved them for 10 turns. The same thing happened in GC1, though.

Sounds like the game isnt handing over control of the traded ships to the AI properly.

I've seen this problem with ships given to a major race as well.....it was most frustrating in my last game to WANT to help another race by giving them some of my (extremely powerful relative to other races that game) battleships. The idea was to turn the tide against a more powerful enemy without getting involved. However, after giving a swarm of them away, I realized they were just sitting in the various places they started. This was particularly annoying because some were sitting right beside worlds in the heart of my civ such that I now had to keep other ships nearby in case they did come to life (and try to get a cheap blow in on me).

This is a MAJOR bug IMO and should be fixed ASAP! I was really looking forward to be the passive race in the galaxy and be able to supply the other race's with ships to fight my wars but it's impossible!
Plz Stardock, make this a priority.

As long as the keep throwing creditws at me for tech and ships I could care less what the minor does with it.
