SyleXP user wants to know does WindowBlinds 5 affect system stability/performance at all??

I bought StyleXP waay back when WindowsXP first came out. I have never had any troubles with it cept having to reload it after certain MS updates. The most important reason I used it was due to the fact it never affected my Older computers performance. WindowBlinds back then slowed my computer wheras StyleXP had no effect at all.

I just loaded WindowBlinds 5 shareware and was wondering does it effect your computers speed at all when playing games. Will I ever need to unload it due to conflicts sometimes when playing games and alt tabbing to desktop? Do new NVIDIA drivers ever have conflicts with WindowBlinds. Also what does hyperpaint do?? Whenver I enable it, my screen gets corrupted and blackness appears all over the place. No I am not running the cracked version. Also it mentions that you can change the skins colors/hues. I don't see this option avail. Do I need to use some other program than windowblinds to do this or is this just ommited from shareware version?

What I really want to know is does this new 'native' version 5 affect my performance at all? I am a performance whore and I don't want to buy something I am not going to ever use. Any comments of users are appreciated.

Thanks for any help. Fuz

Stardock apps do not hack your system as StyleXP does.

WB5 integrates into the UI and therefore has no performance issues. I'm running a GeForce FX-5900 with 77.72 drivers without any problems at all. Other than my desktop looking nice, I don't know it's there. In UT2004 there's no difference in fps with or without WB.

Some advanced options are not available in the shareware version, and you can only use the transparent skins supplied with it (all other skins work fine though).

I've been running WinXP Pro for two years in classic mode with the themes service disabled and the display settings in My Computer->Properties->Advanced->Performance set to maximize performance. I bought WB5 after trialling it when it came out and actually see an improvement in the perfromance of my centrino notebook. Don't know how they did it, but it's sweet!

I was playing spellforce 1.11 final ver. and windowblinds makes explorer.exe crash when I exit game titlebars get black. If i put it in ignore list it's ok. I have all my games in a d:/games directory is there any way you can make the program ignore an entire directory and it's subfolders that would be nice.

FuzyBaffy ...the exclusions in Windowblinds are intended for the executable programs themselves, not for folder contents....so you would have to exclude each/any exe file used to execute whatever game is found to be an issue.  {None of mine is, BTW]...

WindowBlinds shouldn't affect games.
