Best Buy and WB

I took my computer in to Best Buy to get more memory. When the guy started it up he immediately said, "You have Window Blinds on here! That will make your computer slow and it also messes up the registry. I suggest you take it off."
I took it off.

I am but a lowly user that has nothing constructive to say.

(Momma said "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.")

p.s. sorry for your loss.

The assumption here is that this person at Best Buy actually is competent to pass judgement.

If Best Buy is anything like the retail stores here in Australia then I think this is a case of the blind leading the blind....and not about Windowblinds at all...

I can say from experience, that the average employee at Best Buy is not defined as a competent PC technician.

You got some bad advice there........

"Make your computer slow" = false

"Messes up the registry" = false

The computer slow could be written off as having some bad information.

The messes up the registry bit, clearly demonstrates this employees lack of knowledge.

I've heard that too. I have noticed SOMETIMES my CPU misbehaves or runs slowly but all I need to do is add some memory. Hey CPU dudes, I may be totally wrong, but if you are using many Object Desktop Components ie; WindowBlinds, Theme Manager, DestopX, CursorXP, WebBlinds and so forth wouldn't it make since that your CPU is using more memory? I believe in order to achieve the BEST results adjust your hardware to handle it. But I don't believe it harms your CPU in ANY way shape or form. (my 2 cents)

Merry Christmas all!

And BestBuy sucks

I wonder if that was the same employee who told me I could unfreeze my computer by jiggling my mouse while singing the theme from 'Laverne and Shirley'?

Taking advice from a Best Buy employee? Let me guess: You bought your computer there, too.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight,
Schlimiel, schlimazel, hasenpfeffer, incorporated.

We're gonna do it!

Give us any chance we'll take it,

Read us any rule, we'll break it.

We're gonna make our dreams come true.

Doin' it our way!

Nothing's gonna turn us back now,

Straight ahead and on the track now.

We're gonna make our dreams come true,

Doin' it our way!

There's nothing we won't try,

Never heard the word "impossible."

This time there's no stopping us,

We're gonna do it!

On your mark, get set, and go now,

Gotta dream and we just know now.

We're gonna make that dream come true.

And we'll do it our way, yes, our way,

Make all our dreams come true.

And we'll do it our way, yes, our way,

Make all our dreams come true

For me and you.

Amazing that the words of a Best buy techy even made it this far. I have heard better ramblings from a drunk bum.

Yeah.. I've heard WB could actually launch the next nuclear holocaust also..

See how stupid assumptions are? Mines a bit drastic but it's the same. Take it from a Best Buy employee of 5 years (previously) 90% of their employees (100% of the techs) are idiots.

If I'd known so many tards were gonna come out to reply to my message I wouldn't have bothered.
The rest of you....thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

I stopped going to Best Buy when I saw they were charging 50US$ to clean a PC of virii and spyware but you didn't get the software to keep it clean. What a scam.

As a side note, was that the only change you made? Did that fix your problem?

And before you call peopel 'tards' spend some time here. Some of the folks who responded are very knowlegable about WB and have bee a part of the community for a while. Try that before responding like a punk. {Or since you have removed WB, can we assume that we won't have the pleasure of your company?}

Miss Dawter

One of these 'tards' is the actual programmer of Windowblinds....and it is quite safe to assume his expertise is a wee bit more competent and authoritative than some anonymous shop assistant from Best Buy.

As far as 'help' is concerned....there was no question asked so consequently no direct answer given...

Hint....see #4 ....

Man, what an attack...lol
All I did was tell you what Best Buy told me and how I responded to it. I didn't belittle any one or any company. I didn't say what I did was or wasn't beneficial. My number one objective in my post was to receive feed back not attacks or name calling on Best Buy or Window Blinds. I should have specified that.
Why I said "thank you for the help" is gratitude for those of you who responded in an adult manner. Never are childish replys helpful.
"Think" next time. Is your reply helpful, inspiring, necessary or kind? Come to your own conclusions.
As for me...I won't bother you again.

Those people at best buy are only there to make a paycheck. They could care less that they help someone. Its tough enough going into that store finding someone to help you ,only to get rudely interrupted by another customer who needs assistance , voila, your conversation with the salesperson has ended in the interest of another customer who needed help.

Geek Squad? More likely the Dork Squad (See best buy installing spyware )

The point is: You took off WB and don't know why.

I took my car in to the dealership to get a tune-up. When the guy started it up he immediately said, "You have a non-factory speaker in here! That will make your car slow and it also messes up the power consumption. I suggest you take it out."
I took it out.

And I would have gotten away with it, if it hadn't been for you kids!!!
