how to change dynamic system tray icon??

for example with msn messenger

All,

I've been using object dock for quite a while and I found out that you could also customize the icon for the tray stuff.

That is all nice and dandy but once you set an icons, it is stuck to that icon no matter what the program wants it to be.

For example, the Messenger Icon normally changes based on your state (idle, online...) but if I set the icon to be a nice fancy icon, it doesn't change anymore.

Is there a way to customize all icons for a program?

Thanks

You would probably need to use a program like ResHacker to assign the icon images to the ".exe" file, or an included ".dll" - wherever the image files are kept for the program's use.

Yeah a regular customizes systray icon is a static image - but if it's large enough you can show the program's actual icon in the corner of the custom one. Also, I know there's docklets out there for messenger that do change depending on your status.

that could be sufficient... how do you configure object dock to show the actual icon in the corner of the static one?
