Ability to change AI difficulty settings during a game

Not sure if this has been suggested before or how feasible it would be but...

I have always wished that turned based stategy games would let you change the diffuculty setting during a game. I often find myself in a game I wished I had set the AI higher or lower.

I can't remember any turn based strategy game ever letting you do that....

Civ kinda let you do that IIRC, tho it was done by cheating. Been a while so I could be wrong.

If you could change the difficulty both directions it would be too much of a cheat. Only a downward change should be allowed, if at all.

This should only be allowed (both ways) through a cheat, so that the modified game does not count in the Metaverse.

Agreed with Kort. Or maybe allow it at any time, but it invalidates the game for purposes of the Metaverse.

Though I do have to say that it leads to some interesting ideas.

Mad Genius to Henchman: "Now when the Human Ambasador arrives, I want you to make sure to keep your video gear handy. I'll be turning his intelligence all the way down, and with any luck, we'll get some good pictures of him sitting in the punch bowl weilding the ladel like a club, howling at the other guests. 'Strong Diplomacy' my hairless head."

snort... lol...

I usually wish I could turn up the AI in early games where I'm still learning but have invested abunch of time in a game and fibd myself wishing for a tougher opponent becuase my knowledge of what works and doesn't has grown.

definnenlty think this would be good specially if you know your going to win and you want the last portions of the game to be agianst a desparate enemy that uses any advantage to win and if the enemy begins to win then you can tone it down a bit
