Every Time I run Windows Blinds 5 it asks me for my DNS Name and that stuff I don't know what to do on that screen. I put 'cancel' but when i try to install a new skin it asks again. What do I do?

Are you running this on a corporate networked pc? WB5 requires activation and may not be able to get out through a network. What else does it ask for?

Firstly please do not pirate WindowBlinds

The DSN (not DNS) message indicates your database support on your machine is damaged in some way.

For later builds of WB, we have changed from an access database to an ini based database which avoids using the OS database support & therefore avoids this error message.

No, the software is not pirated I just have the demo and everytime I run it, it asks for the DNS Name I don't know what to type in. Do I uninstall the software then delete the Windows Blinds folder then restart and install again?


 


Please Help. I have an hp pavillion 740n.

Sorry, but I know thats a pirate copy.  Only the registered version of WB has a Wblind.dll built at 13:57:10.

Stardock will be releasing an updated shareware & registered build in the coming week.  Registered OD (and I think standalone) customers can use SDC to install the beta release right now which has the change in it along with a number of other tweaks.

How can it be a pirated copy when it is the demo version. I downloaded from your site I just want to know what i have to type in for the DNS name. Its not pirated, its the demo i downloaded off stardock.com. Please help me.

Ok, I went into program files and into WB5 and I do have Wblind.dll . Help me find my DSN Name. Please how can I prove to you that it is not pirated software?

Sorry, but I know thats a pirate copy. Only the registered version of WB has a Wblind.dll built at 13:57:10.


Neil is lead developer for WB, if he says shareware does not have the .dll built at time your info shows then how can you have the shareware.

After the better part of a decade, nobody's quite sure what I do here, but Neil's comments above are accurate. That's not the shareware build info reported above.

Hey Nakor, is my statement in # 8 incorrect; do not see an About in WB 5, in past versions when click about name there was Neil's.
