Paid Users , Wheres the upgrade for Us?? Shareware and Paid Ver Released Help Us :)

:CONGRAT: Paid for 4.6 in Oct, Because I seen the work that was being put into WB5. Well after seeing the Release Date of the 11/29 .. I was very Happy, What is going on? Shareware is release and I can buy the upgrade for $15.00 more dollars? Why has the free ver and upgrade for Cash release, but a simple download for the already paid users not?

Please Release the update for the users that have already paid..:CONGRAT:

I am not an official representative of Stardock, but have either of you filled out the e-mail text box to attempt to get a download link on this page? https://www.stardock.com/support.asp

Corky_O,

I did what you were suggesting like 6 times already.  I keep getting the link the download for 4.6.  I bought mine on October 15.

Okay,

I figured you both tried that already, but just in case.

You have two options that I know of:

1 - Wait for more word on when a free standing update will be available for users who purchased after Sept. 1

2 - Go to the Stardock Central download page - and create a Stardock.net account to receive a download link for Stardock Central program.

After downloading and installing Stardock Central, you use the "Tools > Register Products" and select the version of WindowBlinds you purchased (should be WindowBlinds4) and enter your serial number and click the "Update" button.

This should allow you to select and install WB5 from the list on the right pane when in the Object Desktop category.

Best I can offer while you wait.

Thread originates on the Stardock site....here at WC we miss the comments added from there...

I use IE, with no tabbed browsing, so have two instances of IE running:

1 = WC forums

2 = Stardock forums

All posts show on Stardock forum.

  Still waitting   I'm having a hard time understanding " stand alone update " You have to access the internet to activate the product, why can't the installer scan the Product key with the order id and WoW look paid users get access.. Release a link to the update please..

First 'release' was via SDC for OD Subscribers, then the 'stand alone' WB users with a 'recent' purchase of WB4 would be emailed the info to access the WB5.

There are 'a lot' of emails....so a delay may ensue.

IF you still end up being required to pay a $15 upgrade it will be because your previous version was bought too long ago for a 'free update'.

If you have never purchased WB then the options are...limited shareware/trial or Full Purchase price.

It's pretty straight-forward, really....

Let me know if anyone is receiving these emails. Purchased mine about 7 days ago and have heard nothing.

It is immensely frustrating to me that after the man hours that have gone into making WindowBlinds 5 available, that it's not instantly available to everyone possible (specifically, people who are getting a _FREE_ update to 5.x) is causing all these posts.

The builds were released in a staggered order based on how they finished getting packaged and tested. Which actually meant the shareware version for people who hadn't paid a cent was available first if you knew where to look. Then ODNT customers because it could be released without having to test placing new orders.

The final download links for the enhanced versions (standalone) were put up less than 10 hours ago, once the ordering and upgrade path tests for those were completed.

And then, when we thought everything was settled, we started sending out the emails to people entitled to free upgrades to 5.x based on orders.

Do not purchase an upgrade. Do not assume some dark conspiracy to trick users into upgrading for $15 before they get the emails. Frankly, I'm more than a little insulted.

Next time, we'll try to make it a point to add the product records earlier for the free upgrades so at least you can get the download links from the support page or have Stardock Central automatically recognize it.

We didn't this time, I recognize that, we could have done better.

If you don't have an email by Wednesday morning (EST), then drop a note to kwilas@stardock.com and I'll personally check into it.

Until then, your free ice cream is coming. We can only dish it out so fast.

Kris

What are you talking about "free icream" Its not free I paid for it and still havent got it. It would have been better to have posted something to say that an email was coming rather than leave people in the dark. Then come here and say something about a stupid conspiracy....how about some customer service maybe?
