GamesIndustry has caught wind of a lawsuit brought against World of Warcraft developer, Blizzard Entertainment. According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the suit stems from the death of a 13 year-old boy who "jumped to his death whilst re-enacting a scene from the game."
The "scene" that is being blamed for the death has not been described, but since few movies exist in the title, the scene must have been user driven, such as jumping off the cliff in Thousand Needles. Zhang Chunliang, a well known activist in the region, will be taking the case and claims that he has talked to more than 60 parents about their children's addiction to online gaming.
China's 1.5 million subscribers make up a third of World of Warcraft's total population which has climbed over 4.5 million users worldwide.
As described, I fail to see how this could be the game's fault, but lets chalk it up to a bad translation.
