Zoom and Graphics

you guys have done a great job with the graphics and the strategic map looks great and provides a ton of info but i think that it would be nice if you were able to zoom out and c the map in the regualr view without any icons to get a big picture view of your whole empire. it would also help show off the graphics

Some of us like the icons when you zoom out. I find the zoomed out main map more useful than the mini-map.

im not saying that the zoomed out is bad im just saying that if there could be a way to toggle it on and off that would be nice cause then i can see more of the graphics when i play the game

Or just add a slider in the options to determine what zoom level it switches to strategic mode at, with 'always on' and 'always off' at eiather end of the spectrum.

Having the "always on" would increase system performance dramatically for those without a decent hardware setup, I would imagine? Especially in the later stages of a game with hundreds of ships moving about each turn.

Added to our suggestion list.  I definatly agree that a slider would be ideal...and perhaps even have one for the zoom-out level, so if you have a monster PC and play on gigantic, you can zoom out and see the whole galaxy at once.
