Error "It is illegal to call out while inside message filter"

Endnote / Fast Scrolling

http://www.endnote.com/endemo.asp
Hello,

I have a problem when using one of my programs "ENDNOTE" (by ISIRESEARCH SOFT) when WindowsBlinds is turned on. If I unload WindowsBlinds, the problem does not occur. The problem can be replicated without fail.

THE PROBLEM: When I click on the "Find Citation" button in Word 2003, it opens up an Endnote Dialogue for selecting a reference to insert. When I click and drag the scrollbar moderately fast, it generates a series of message boxes with the error message "It is illegal to call out while inside message filter". If I drag very slowly through the list or if I use the page down click in the scrollbar, the error does not occur. If I unload Windowblinds, I can drag the scrollbar in the Endnote citation dialog box as fast as I want.

This problem seems to only happen with this one program. I have tried to tell Windowblinds to "Not Skin" the program in the individual program options but the error continues. Since this is the only program that seems to generate this problem, I expect that there is some unexpected programming call in Endnote that Windowblinds does not recognize or is not prepared for.

I am hoping that you can please provide me with a fix to this problem. Many thanks!

Which version of WindowBlinds and which version of Windows (including service packs) are you running?

I was able to reproduce this once and then it stopped which made tracking it down difficult.  I plan to revisit it next week.

Hi Neil,

Thanks in advance for your efforts to help. It really is a problem that annoys the 'bejeebees' out of me! After all, it sucks to have a scroll bar and not be able to use it the way it was intended.

I hope you have a chance to take a look at this soon

The problem definitely is consistent and replicable. I've tried on three of my computers and they all occur with the combination of the programs Windowblinds / Endnote. Certainly the problem may be with Endnote / Word and peculiar ways they make interface calls but perhaps you can be wise enough to offer a work around ? (Oh, other than my current of not dragging the slider!)
