My tickets are bought online for Arundel Mills Muvico 24. My mother, bless her, took the day off from work to come down and see it with us. (We didn't ask her, but whoo hoo!)

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the most action-packed yet of all the books (in sequence... SIX isn't a film yet...) and promises to be extraordinary. I am very excited.

Dave's going to try and drive home from the academy thanksgiving weekend and we're going to take the kids to see it on the saturday after turkey day. 

 

I'm more excited than they are, I think!!!!

5 is not a film yet either!  My wife is still reading it.  My son hates them,so it will just be my wife and I going to see it.  SHE is watching 3 now.

I can't wait. I didn't even think about preordering tickets. Maybe we can go on Saturday. Friday night we have a pack meeting. But Saturday for the matinee maybe?

I would suggest preordering tickets, either online or at the theater. Simply because that way you can be certain what time you're going.

Okay, it took a couple of days to get back into the blog, but here is my review.

Excellent film. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. Just a trememdous film, with lots of energy. Knowing the story beforehand did not hurt the narrative. Though I did notice where they took chapters out for the screenplay, it was just extraneous fluff and not meaty enough to make the screen.

For example, do we have to see the Dursleys in every film? Can't we just assume that he went home for the summer and got out early for the Quidditch World Cup? Yes we can, because the film skipped right over that and did not even have the Dursleys in it. The only mention was a short sentence: Hermione asks Harry when he got here. He says yesterday. Perfect.

The special effects were blindingly good.

I was very concerned over the PG-13 rating. Would it be too graphic or scary for my four-year-old daughter, who just loves Harry Potter and would never forgive us if we left her behind? It was not too much for her. There were only two scenes that were of questionable nature. The first was when mer-creatures attack Harry in the Black Lake, and that was a flurry of clawing and furious activity. The second disturbing scene was when Voldemort becomes flesh again, and it was a little shockingly biological.

All in all, an excellent adaptation of the best yet of Rowling's books.

Once again, 4 1/2 stars out of five.

Yes, I read his review of the film. I was more impressed with Voldemort than he was. He thought Voldemort was weak-ish and not at all what he expecetd. He also said Ralph ("Rafe") was a wussy. My kids said that he looked weird; he had no nose. Not cute at all. Okay, whatever that meant. Anyway, I thought Voldy was excellently portrayed, and that he will come into his own as a character in films 5 and 6.

I thought it was an excellent film. I had no major complaints.
