Activation maximum reached?........

Have I missed something?....

Any knowledge available on this one?

I have been testing WB5 beta on my desktop and notebook for the past couple of weeks, by installing the beta directly (no 4.6 pre-install).

I completed that testing, and moved on to installing 4.6 first, and then beta 5 for further testing, and the desktop installed and applied without issue.

The notebook on the other hand installed 4.6 and beta 5, including the "activation product" showing in the progress text toward the end of installation.

I rebooted the computer after both 4.6 and beta 5 install > loaded beta 5 > selected a skin > clicked "Apply this skin now" > received the two images below. Note - I tried this twice (once through router, once directly - all information is correct in text fields).

Any fixes for this one available, or am I SOL?

Will check back after work.

This is an anti-piracy mechanism.  I've reset your activation count.

So uh, how many activations are we allowed??

I've reset your activation count

Thanks, Mike.

All is well.

On my skills as a pirate......I would suck.

If I had the experience needed to be a pirate, I would have already created the "Address book" widget/gadget which integrates perfectly with Outlook that I have been dreaming of since applying the first widget on my desktop......

......Oh, to be such a coder........

Maybe in the next life, I will take a course on software engineering.

I too have been told I've reached my maximum activation.   Could I get reset please?  Thanks!

KearneyiteNIBC: You're all set.

So uh, how many activations are we allowed??

It depends on a number of factors including how many activations have occured within a given time period. If there is an excessive amount of activations (ie you're testing, trying to resolve an issue, or have shared your serial# with your peers) it will set a flag and notify you that you have exceeded your activation limit. We then determine whether to reset the flag based on our records. Either send an email to support@stardock.com, or make a post here or in the newsgroups.  You shouldn't have any issues getting the flag reset (that is unless we see over 100 activations with your serial#, each from a different ip )

In short, the activation limit is nothing to worry about. Over 99% of our customers will never run into this issue.

I too have reached my max limit. I was having problems with Windowblinds on my desktop and notebook (nearly resolved) when I received the max limit reached msg.

Would you please reset it?

This is beginning to encroach on my joy of OD. Already using a proprietary interface for activation of Object Desktop Net. Why do I need another potential hurdle. There have been site reliability issues, will there be an alternate way of "activation" if the site is unavailable. A real "pirate" would NOT be inconvenienced by this, but I could be, and since the pirate isn't going to pay for fair use of the software anyway but I am, why do I need it?

Products can also be activated by e-mail.

Given that the products are activated when you download them, the site being down is unlikely to be a problem as it would have been down when you tried to download it anyway regardless of if it has activation or not.

javrs: You have not exceeded your activation limit, but I have reset your count anyway.

mark7649: Your Stardock.net account and registration information has been merged into one record. Additionally, I have reset your activation count.

darkening: You have not exceeded your activation limit, but I have reset your count anyway.

Mr Urgo: This might be due to the fact that you have two Stardock.net accounts. They are sharing your email address, but not your Stardock.net info or your Registration info. Please send an email to support@stardock.com and let us know which sd.net account you would like to retain. We can merge the rest of the information.

Same problem here also.  Got the cannot write activiation signature.  After several attempts to fix... Maximum Activations error.  Sent an email to support Monday, but have not gotten a response yet.  If someone from OD is monitoring this thread, can you reset our counts.

Thanks.

I got that "activation signature" message the other day when updating. After rebooting and opening WB config to apply a skin the activation screen popped up again and worked fine.

In case it helps.

d h, I've merged your account records and you should be set. Your issue was a stardock.net account record under a different account than your product registrations.

Hashim, I expect your difficulty was the funky character in your nickname. Please try again and if it doesn't work, email \program files\sdcentral\activate.log to kwilas@stardock.com.

Hi, I'm getting that very same "Could not write the activation signature" message . It has happened several times, so I'm probably closing in on the activation limit as well . I have tried installing a few different ways (clean 4.6 then 5, 5 clean, reinstall 4.6 then 5, etc.) and no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Same problem here, I've sent a message to support and have ticket OOR-164392 so I'll try and wait patiently. But I thought I'd go ahead and post a message here.

Purchased Object Desktop and ObjectDock Plus tonight, and my email was being slow to receive the registration confirmation email so I set up an account with an alternate email address so I could sign in and get Stardock. When the original confirmation email got to me, I signed in with the account I used for the original purchase. Since above posts mention two accounts can cause a problem, I'm guessing this is why I'm having trouble. Ladies and gentlemen, once again my being impatient has only slowed me down.

I look forward to using this. Screenshots look purty.

Finally got around to trying the install again.  I uninstalled WB 4.x, rebooted, installed WB 5.x, and rebooted.   When WB 5 initially loaded I noticed that the activation window opened twice.  I closed them both and the WB main window that opened after.  Then I opened WB from the start menu and entered my registration.  No problems this time around.

I thought the double activation window was a one time occurence when it happened on my desktop.  I managed to make two or three attempts there before I noticed the other window underneath.  Same thing happened on my laptop during this install.  I closed them since it seemed that one may have locked open whatever file it was trying to write.

Just wanted to say thanks for the help.
