Diplomacy options?

Just wondering as there are spheres of influence and that each planet can be colonised. Is there a non-trespassing treaty or statement? One that would allow me to secure nearby planets as other empires wouldn't be able to enter my territory without declaring war...

I am also curious to know if there are other new diplomatic options since GC1?

Also...do we get a message when an enemy ship enters our territory? Thanks

i like the idea of making it so that enemy units cant pass into your territory without declaring war but i think instead of u going to the other civ and saying "lets agree not to pass into eachothers terriories" it should be that ou cant pass into eachothers territories from the beggining without declaring war and u have to go to enemy civilizations and say "if i let your ships pass through my territory will u let my ships pass through yours?

Pascal...the probable reason why no one has commented is because the diplomatic portion of the game hasn't been functional yet. According to Stardock it will be in Beta 4.

Birth of the Federation handled this well I always thought. However, atm GC2 doesn't actually have any sort of system for defining your borders. The sphere of influence is an abstract concept of how much your civilisation effects those around it rather than being a line defining territory on a map. To do this a territory system would need to be added in.

Visually it could be something like a dotted line (in your empires colour) marking your border. Perhaps it could be tied to your influence in a ratio, say for every 2 squares of influence extending out around your colony you gain 1 square of territory. That would mean your influence always extends beyoind your borders to influence other empires. Alternatively tie territory to a flat number, say 4 squares around your colony.

And ofc other races cannot enter your territory peacefully without an access/mutual access treaty.

sounds good to me plus since territory wouldnt extend as far as influence there would be some corridors of "no mans land" whitch are too far away from civ's planets and starbases to be part of anyones territory (considering that space is humongous in real life if we every get to the galactic level this would proabably happen anyways) and thus international ground for trading and a fine path to move ur huge mega armada pass other civs
