windowsblinds v4 or v5

which to install?

hi,
i have just purchased object desktop for the first time, no software from stardock has ever been installed on my system.

i'm unsure which version of windowsblinds to install. v5 is the newer one, but v4 is the stable one with the extras.

sidenote.. is it beneficial to install windowsblinds then desktopx (or vice versa) or does it not matter?

thanks for the advice!

I've installed WB 5 which caused some mess on my PC.I had to uninstall it. I think these version has still some bugs!
You should wait little bit and download WB4 which is O.K. Later you can update after to WB5 after all bugs are settled.
With WB you have skins only and with desktopx you can create your own desktop. It's up to you. Try both! Better you download Object Desktop for little more money than you have all stuff(see website from stardock.com)incl. DesktopX.

Assuming you have Stardock Central installed, you can deselect the "Show pre-release versions" versions option at bottom of window.

This will result in Stardock Central only showing the official "released" versions of all programs.

I would suggest this route to begin with, so you can enjoy the programs for a while before venturing into the "beta" world - which will have bugs (these versions are for those people who want to help with the development of the programs, and do not mind when things go sideways - which requires troubleshooting).

As badblueboy indicated, it does not matter which program you install first.

I would suggest installing WindowBlinds, Icon Packager, DesktopX, and perhaps ObjectDock (which is not actually part of the Object Desktop suite, but is a free download listed in either the "Misc" or the "Free Stuff" categories.

If you need some further explanation on installing, you can see my mini tutorial here http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?SID=5463&AID=83625

Have fun.
