Wow. Good to see some maturity around here... (not). I hate having to browse at ratings=1, but I do it here because I can't stand most of the skins the SD and WC people think are really nice. (hence my only buying a WC sub when the new Halloween skin by Mike Bryant came out; the premium skin suites I just can't use on my computer)

What a shame.

This is why I don't rate many skins.

Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail on both sides of the issue. The whole ratings thing creates more problems than it's worth. IMO

I only rate for new skinners if they've done good work to encourage them. I occasionally rate very good skins from anyone if the skin is just that far above average. The only bad ratings I've made were on skins which are obvious rips or occasionally on the commercialized stuff if the download transports me to a sea of ads and self promotion.

I feel like the biggest shmuck in the world for supporting this place the way I did.

I set mine on 'all' - ratings have no effect on my decision to download. My sucky dialup on the other hand has caused me to way behind in downloading.

The rating system is * I hate it, ** I don't like it, *** It's OK, **** I like it, ***** I love it. So somebody didn't like it... it's an opinion, nothing more. No need for name calling. Dark skins always attract diverse ratings and this one has far more five stars than one stars - all just personal opinions of the people concerned. I've not used it myself so I cannot rate it or comment further other than generalize about the popularity of dark skins - some folks just don't like them, I know, my dark skins have suffered a similar fate

Nighttrain, its not such a big deal as you are making it out to be. So what if you got a 2 star rating? Thats a heck of a lot better than a lot of skins get. I rate skins at what I think they should be rated. I gave the skin a 2 star just now, because I think that the glass is overused, and its too dark for my tastes. Hence: "I dont like it". Thats kinda the way things go...

Fuzzy got right, there will always be those that don't like something no matter how good it is. I believe it's just as wrong to use ratings as a personal attack as it is to make a verbal attack on someone. Frankly, it's petty and childish.

The main thing is if you leave, you lose. If you let someone else's actions control your reactions you lose. Retribution gets you nowhere. You've shown the community the kind of person you are. Your best bet is to blow it off. It's hard to do and it sucks, but it reflects who YOU are.

So Cerebro...You say that my skin was posted with a 2 star rating out of the cue (in the comment section of my skin). Thank you for confirming. That is wrong. I expect better judgement from WC administrators and thats why I made the nasty comment. In simpler words , the moderator that posted my skin drew first blood.

The current ongoing conspired attack on me is an embarrassment to the entire communtiy. I really hope that Boxxi is held accountable for his actions. He had no right seeking revenge on me based on a comment I made on his skin. My comment was not a personal attack. Someone had to say something harsh so that he hears the truth.

So go ahead and keep conspiring. You guys have chased away some very good skinners and made them feel like outcasts while protecting each other in the exact same fashion you did today.

I have to agree with Lantec, NT. Who cares what the ratings from a few people are? Some really nice skins get rated down and some really terrible skins get rated highly (IMHO) all the time. The only problem I see is this whole "revenge rating" business. That is just silly.

Night train, its not a matter of 'conspiring' at all. My rating that I gave the skin earlier was a reflection of what I thought the skin should be rated. Its not 'unfair' and its not about revenge.

Umm, didnt I just do that to you? Your glassy skin doesnt meet the 'average' bar. Accept that as constructive critisism, because I know that is my own personal opinion. You have many positive ratings as well, so dont be so obsessive about an initial low one. If you are annoyed that the 'casual visitor' will not see your skin, do better work in the future. Its all a matter of improving skills over time. Dont be so overreactive... we all want everyone to improve.

Just because I'm a moderator doesnt mean that 'we' gang up on those who arent mods. We are what we are because we make fair judgement and can keep a cool head. Lets just relax... I like your other skin that you released in that mysteriously 'deleted' thread...

Note: I dont know who moderated your skin initially... heck, it may have even been me, and I just dont remember. No need to be aggressive about it... low ratings are part of life, just look in my gallery.

Night Train, ratings aren't everything. All that matters is how many people are actually using it. Three stars isn't bad. That skin is pretty sweet compared to some that I've seen on here. I would pay more attention to the number of downloads.

You're a great guy, leaving this place just because your skin had a 2-star rating is, well, stupid. Just move on. As long as you are satisfied with your work, then it's fine.

I don't prefer light over dark colored skins, either. I switch between them, actually. After I am done using Halloween then I am going to get a light one.

My last bootskin was doing quite well in downloads - till someone rated it. A noob put a 1 on it. Now it is languishing out of sight because of one rating by someone who has no skinning knowledge at all. Is that fair? No, it isn't, but you don't see me complaining

I heard what you said about my skin. I didn't respond because you have your opinion. I didn't hold it against you. I remained quiet, didnt I? You had to go and repeat yourself...why? I didn't respond to your critisism of my skin. I accepted it. I guess you fealt it necessary to drive the stake in further.

Its about me being brutally honest with another skinner that just needed to be reminded what skinning is all about. The rest only assured me of suspicions I have had for a long time.
