Individual Empire and AI empire Star Maps.

I'm running low on beer so I thought I would do a totally useless thing for the price of a sixpack. :D

They are just jpegs based on folks submissions to the Metaverse. I'm currently working on the top 15 but will do one for all who ask within this thread.

Examples
Mine

EBZ
http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/bakka/starmaps/Galcivmap_EBZeroMatrix_20030816.jpg

If you want a different background just give me a link to the picture when you ask on to be done.
Also working on web page to link to all.

Technical Info (you can skip this bit if you want)
1. Player positions are determined by the last two digits in the Player ID. Mine is 8239 so my X co-ordinates is 3 and my y co-ordinates is 9
2. The five AI empire positions are determined by the Stardock.net ID. I break the 6 digits down to 5 groups of two and assign them as x & y co-ordinates to the AI empires
ie My Stardocknet ID is 665910. Altarians x=6 y=6. Arcean x=6 y=5. Torian x=5 y=9. Yor x=9 y=1 Drengin x=1 y=0
3. I've assigned the different morality wins to each empire. (Same as the default at start of the game). Bonus scores are added if the submitted score also has a certain type of victory.
Altarians get all the Pure good games with a bonus if the win was a Cultural Conquest
Arceans get all all Chaotic good games with a bonus if the win was a Alliance Victory
Torians get all the Neutral games and no bonuses
Yors get all the Chaotic evil games with a bonus if the win was a beyond Human
Drengins get all the Pure Evil games with a bonus if the win was a Military Conquest
The Score field is used for the Warrior's score
4. The Metaverse Rank is used to scale the charts. At the moment this is good for the top 500 positions in the Metaverse.
5. Charted and jpegged for the web.

Kudos goes to the SpyMaster Garekkan for developing the toughness rating and alignment indicator.

Ok now for something that is really worth the sixpack.
have a look at this.

It's a time warp map of a warriors submission history.

Excellent! Thanks, batman!

I'm a little surprised to see how that stacked up. I need to play evil a bit more! :)

You have truely outdone yourself this time bakka! :D

This is just great (not having ever really understood the Starmap in GC Forums anyway . . . this further adds to my un-understanding . . . if that makes sence. But bottom line is its very pretty!)

Looks pretty awesome. Can you do me a history as well?

From what I see here so far, it looks like you are earning your beer money, bakka. Good job.

Minor bug report:
Arceans get all all Chaotic good games with a bonus if the win was a Alliance VictoryTorians get all the Neutral games and no bonuses
End of quote

You got the two reversed. Arceans are neutral and the Torians chaotic good. Look at the bright side, fix one little thing, and then you can call it version 1.1 and sell it for even more beer! :D

Oh, and thanks for the mention earlier. I have had to upgrade my systems a couple of times each as well. The last "season" of Major Empires reports is the third revision and I offered two flavors of toughness comparisons, one by empires and one by straight player ranking. So tinkering is part of the job. Well, looks like I am going to run off and spy on some unsuspecting Galciv folks to earn my beer money.

Keep up the good work, bakka. :CONGRAT:

Just take the AI names away from it and think morality and you will have the bases of the chart.

Oops..

Hmm I could also add in some of the Minor AI's
What you think, map some Minor AI's against Map size and/or difficulty levels.?

I could watch it for HOURS...

Sorry, beer speaking.

Bakka, I was impressed at how quickly the evil in your profile grew. I only have a handful of games submitted, with another in progress - not much to see there. But how about RAY? Would be interesting to see whom he truly resembles - Gandalf (as he claims) or Saruman? Hmmm...

I think you probably need to expand it so that you only store the scores and it generates the maps each time. 10 megs is going to be too expensive!

Having your website generate the images when you click on them would be really cool and would save you lots of bandwidth.

Now for the embarrasing question ... How do I get it to work? When I click on it, all I see it a .gif file with 0 of 65 in the top corner. How do I get it to show the other 65?

Paul.

Obi . did you you find the sublimital message?
:)

Yeah I was doing an experiment but Cotal beat me to it.

If you want one done just ask. No need to be polite. I'm aussie and we are only polite to those who we don't know. :p

Solitair
Your suggestions are way above this hmtl v1.0 using notepad crappy web page writer. The GF has only just convinced me to install frontpage. (I pretend to use it when she is around)

It's just a normal gif file so if you open it in IE it should cycle through the 66 frames. The first 65 are set to 50 milliseconds with the last one set to 3 seconds.

Has any one else have any trouble with it?:notsure:
Can anyone else throw some light on the problem?

PS I was joking about the subliminal message. Or was I?

I only see a single image when I open it, no matterr what program I use to open it. I can download the entire 9.5M file though, so all the other images must be there.

Clutching at straws here.

In Windoze Internet explore goto
Tools
Internet Options
Advanced tab
Scroll down to about half way.
Under the Multimedia heading
Make sure the
"Play animations in web pages."
box has a green tick in it

You can see it in Windows media player v9 but you have to keep hitting play every 20 frames or so.

If you have windows mover player you can also see all the frames.

Apple quicktime v6.1 will also play it.

how about making one which includes all the players that youve done maps for (Plz include me too) without computer players... eg: to see individual players in comparisom to each other in a graphical display :)

I've changed the out put to use Bink. (same as what the game uses to play movies
It reduces the Gif files down by 90%

Done time warp and star map for
BlueSteel
Gerakken
Vincible
Cotal
Obi Wan Kenobi
Theoden of Rohan
Evil Steve
Ray the wanderer

BlueSteel I think I understand what you asking for. I gotta think on it some. (well actually i gotta play some more games)..

Oh yeah forgot to say. Don't use any of the links above. I've changed where the files are stored..
Some of the free web host sites don't like you linking directly to files and not getting any adds on the page.
Sheeze.. Advertisers have ruined the net.

Any way to advertise my site again.. :)
