I made a fantastic new icon but

when I'd finished it, sized it down to 256x I realised it was rubbish. Trying to get such sharp detail as I find in the better icons here is so difficult. Maybe its the way Paint Shop Pro handles resizing and all the great skinners use Photoshop. Not sure but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to improve the quality of my icons.

I've scrapped the last hours work and am starting again with a fresh approach. I'm determined to make a set of Icons that can be used to go with daemon tools virtual drives.

Oh my kingdom for Photoshop! oh and a lot of training so I could use it lol

Try IconDeveloper. You can save your image as a png of any size, pop it into this, and try some of the resampling settings, and it will automatically resize the image for all the icon sizes you need: https://www.stardock.com/products/icondeveloper/

Plan B - make a copy on a background like magic pink or whatever color you want to use - when it's open in PSP - take a screen shot - crop - and play with resizing that

Thanks for the tips, I'll take any advice I can get

I think I finally got something I liked, my hand trembled over the upload button and now I'll just have to see if the powers that be approve it. Great fun learning how to do it though, whether they are approved or not.
