Well to use the bootskins that are on the site you have to download and install the bootskin.exe that is available on the bootskin page. It's a really nice program. As long as you have to correct OS to run it.

As for making a bootskin mostly any photo program will work. I use photoimpact. I have seen tutorials out there for Photoshop and for Paint Shop Pro. I think any program will work as long as you follow the appropriate guidelines required for bootskin. All skins have to be 640x480 size, they have to be in 16 color (4bit) data type and the status bar (if you want to have one) needs to be 22x9 in 16 resolution and NEEDS to be in the same color pallete as your background otherwise when you startup the colors don't know which color pallete to use and will use the wrong one. Also a bootskin.ini file will drive the whole thing to completion. Even if you don't have a status bar you still need a bootskin.ini file in your folder. The folder is under Stardock--Wincustomize--Bootskins--your folder name. Here is the link to the site that helped me out a lot. If you have any questions email me at jim904@hotmail.com. Hope you can figure it out.
